Abstract Background Guidelines about febrile neutropenia in paediatric patients are not homogeneous; the best empiric treatment of this condition should be driven by local epidemiology. The Weighted-Incidence Syndromic Combination Antibiogram (WISCA) addresses need for disease-specific susceptibility evidence that could guide antibiotic prescriptions based on outcome estimates regimens obtained as a weighted average pathogen susceptibilities. This study developed WISCA model to inform...

In last years the diffusion of carbapenem resistance in Gram-negative bacteria (CR-GNB) is increasing worldwide, mainly due to expression carbapenemases. Cefiderocol has molecular characteristics that ideally confers activity against all CR-GNB, but resistant strains have already been identified. We describe cefiderocol susceptibility profile among multi-drug isolated from pediatric patients.

Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial in children, and antibiotic susceptibility youngest patients remains poorly understood. This study aimed to describe distribution of uropathogens their susceptibility, focusing on oral formulations. Methods: Data from first microbiological isolation, between January 2007 December 2023, at Istituto Gaslini, young infants (aged <6 months), were analyzed. Results: We isolated 2473 infants’ pathogen, with a median...

In a prospective study of acute pharyngitis in Italian children, 69 (38.3%) 180 isolates Streptococcus pyogenes were resistant to macrolides. S. was eradicated 12 (63.1%) 19 patients with erythromycin-resistant treated clarithromycin and 22 (88%) 25 erythromycin-susceptible strains. The constitutive-resistant phenotype correlated failure macrolide treatment.

BACKGROUND: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a chronic, occlusive cerebrovascular characterized by bilateral steno-occlusive changes at the terminal portion of internal carotid arteries and an abnormal vascular network base brain determining stroke in children. Patients with similar vasculopathy associated conditions are affected moyamoya syndrome (MMS). Most studies focused on MMD were carried out East-Asian population. Abstract Several studies demonstrated a relevant role of polymorphisms located within the HLA-B and -C loci Killer Immunoglobulin Receptors (KIRs) 3DL1 3DS1 in controlling HIV-1 replication. KIRs are regulatory receptors expressed at surface NK CD8+ T-cells that specifically bind HLA-A -B alleles belonging to Bw4 supratype all expressing C1 or C2 supratype. We here disclose novel signature associated with Elite Controller but not long-term nonprogressor status concerning 2DS activating...

HLA-C expression is associated with a differential ability to control HIV-1 infection. Higher levels may lead better of infection through both higher efficiency antigen presentation cytotoxic T lymphocytes and the triggering activating killer immunoglobulin-like receptors on NK cells, whereas lower provide poor rapid progression AIDS. We characterized relative amounts heterotrimers (heavy chain/β2 microglobulin [β2m]/peptide) free heavy chains peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from...

Abstract HIV‐1 infection in humans results an early and progressive NK cell dysfunction accumulation of “anergic” CD56 − CD16 + subset, which is characterised by low natural cytotoxicity receptor expression cytokine producing capacity. In contrast to humans, chimpanzee cells do not display a distinguishable bright dim subset but, as shown here, could be subdivided into functionally different CD8 subsets. The expressed significantly higher levels triggering receptors including NKp46 and, upon...
