Cardiogenic shock is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. Although inotropic support a mainstay of medical therapy for cardiogenic shock, little evidence exists to guide the selection agents in clinical practice.
Cardiogenic shock (CS) is associated with high mortality. We report on a "Shock Team" approach of combined interdisciplinary expertise for decision making, expedited assessment, and treatment. We reviewed 100 patients admitted in CS over 52 months. Patients managed under Code Shock Team protocol (n = 64, treatment) from 2016 to 2019 were compared standard care 36, control) 2015 2016. The cohort was predominantly male (78% treatment, 67% median age 55 years (interquartile range [IQR], 43-64)...
Introduction: Cardiogenic shock (CS) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Although inotropic support a mainstay of medical therapy for CS, little evidence exists to guide the selection agents in clinical practice. Methods: In this double blind randomized controlled trial, we assigned patients SCAI class B E either milrinone or dobutamine support. Therapy was titrated based on clinical, biochemical hemodynamic response as evaluated by treating physician. The primary outcome...
