Mining activities may affect the health of miners and communities living near mining sites, these effects persist even when mine is abandoned. During processes various toxic wastes are produced released into surrounding environment, resulting in contamination air, drinking water, rivers, plants, soils. In a geochemical sampling campaign undertaken Panasqueira Mine area central Portugal, an anomalous distribution several metals arsenic (As) was identified environmental media. Several...
Bisphenol A is a human endocrine disruptor. Its normally low levels in biological fluids make it difficult to detect via conventional techniques. This work demonstrates the complete extraction of bisphenol A, and its possible concentration up 100-fold single-step procedure, using ionic-liquid-based aqueous biphasic systems.
Objective-To compare urine protein-to-creatinine concentration (UPC) ratios in samples collected by means of cystocentesis versus manual compression cats. Design-Evaluation study. Animals-43 client-owned cats requiring urinalysis. Procedures-In all cats, 5 mL from the midstream phase micturition was and, subsequently, an additional obtained ultrasound-guided cystocentesis. A complete urinalysis performed on samples, and UPC were determined. Results-Cats classified basis International Renal...
Within the framework of burden disease (BoD) approach, and injury estimates attributable to risk factors are a useful guide for policy formulation priority setting in prevention. Considering important differences methods, their impact on estimates, we conducted scoping literature review to: (1) map BoD assessments including performed across Europe; (2) identify methodological choices comparative assessment (CRA) methods. We searched multiple databases, grey websites targeted public health...
