Abstract The history of Ecuador was marked by the arrival Europeans with Africans, resulting in mixture Native Americans Africans and Europeans. present study contributes to knowledge Ecuadorian mestizo population offering information about ancestry ethnic heterogeneity. Forty-six AIM-InDels (Ancestry Informative Insertion/Deletion Markers) were used obtain on 240 individuals from three regions (Amazonia, Highlands, Coast). As a result, involved significant contribution (values up 51%),...
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a severe respiratory illness caused by the RNA virus SARS-CoV-2. Globally, there have been over 759.4 million cases and 6.74 deaths, while Ecuador has reported more than 1.06 35.9 thousand deaths. To describe COVID-19 pandemic impact vaccinations effectiveness in low-income country like Ecuador, we aim to assess seroprevalence of IgG IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 sample from healthy blood donors at Cruz Roja Ecuatoriana.
Objective Lactase persistence (LP) is an adaptive trait that certain human populations have acquired in response to lactose consumption adulthood. The T-13910 variant has been reported as a causal polymorphism Europeans. Ecuadorian population described multicultural and multiethnic, comprised of three main ethnic groups (Mestizo, Native Amerindian, Afro-Ecuadorian). aim the study was identify molecular basis LP these admixed for first time determine association between marker European...
On January 5 2021, Ecuadorian COVID-19 genomic surveillance program detected a suspicious case of the B.1.1.7 lineage (alpha variant) SARS-CoV-2 in Los Rios province, later confirmed by genome sequencing. The patient travelled from UK end December 2020. By contact tracing, several new cases were confirming transmission and spreading Ecuador.
Lynch Syndrome (LS) is a hereditary disorder characterized by genetic mutations in DNA mismatch repair genes, affecting approximately 0.35% of the population. LS primarily increases risk colorectal cancer (CRC), as well various other types like endometrial, breast, and gastric cancers. Microsatellite instability, caused MMR gene mutations, key feature LS, impacting genes such
