Among a number of gas analyzers, portable chromatography (GC) systems created by the integration microfabricated components are promising candidates for rapid and on-site analysis complex chemical mixtures. This Feature provides snapshot progress made in developing micro (μGC) last 4 decades. In particular, we discuss development preconcentrators, separation columns, detectors. Furthermore, review different stationary phase materials used to coat columns major efforts toward an integrated μGC.
Herein, we demonstrate an alternative strategy for creating QCM-based sensor arrays by use of a single to provide multiple responses per analyte. The sensor, which simulates virtual array (VSA), was developed depositing thin film ionic liquid, either 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([OMIm][Br]) or thiocyanate ([OMIm][SCN]), onto the surface QCM-D transducer. exposed 18 different organic vapors (alcohols, hydrocarbons, chlorohydrocarbons, nitriles) belonging same homologous series....
Development of ionic liquid (IL)-based colorimetric sensor arrays for detection and identification chemicals in both the aqueous vapor phases is reported. These facile inexpensive optoelectronic sensors were fabricated by using liquids (ILs) derived from readily available pH indicator dyes. A series 12 different chemosensory ILs synthesized pairing anionic dyes with trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium ([P66614]) cation via an ion exchange reaction. The incorporation [P66614] imparted hydrophobic...
There is a continuing need to develop high-performance sensors for monitoring organic solvents, primarily due the environmental impact of such compounds. In this regard, colorimetric have been subject intense research applications. Herein, we report unique virtual sensor array based on single ionic liquid (IL) accurate detection and identification similar solvents mixtures solvents. study, employ eight alcohols seven binary ethanol methanol as analytes provide stringent test assessing...
Antibiotics, nowadays, are not only used for the treatment of human diseases but also in animal and poultry farming to increase production. Overuse antibiotics leads their circulation food chain due unmanaged discharge. These circulating residues a major cause antimicrobial resistance (AMR), so comprehensive multifaceted measures aligning with One Health approach crucial curb emergence dissemination antibiotic through chain. Different chromatographic techniques capillary electrophoresis (CE)...
A novel vapor-sensitive composite film comprising cellulose acetate and a representative compound (1-n-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate) from Group of Uniform Materials Based on Organic Salts (GUMBOS) has been developed characterized. The vapor sensing characteristics the is investigated using quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) transducer. material exhibited greatly improved performance toward number organic vapors. It demonstrated that ratio change in resonance frequency...
Porphyrin-based GUMBOS and nanoGUMBOS were synthesized for potential application as improved photosensitizing materials. In this study, porphyrin dyes [meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphine (TCPP) zinc(II) meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphine (Zn-TCPP)] selected anions, trihexyltetradecylphosphonium (P66614) was employed a cation. The resulting [P66614]4[TCPP] [P66614]4[Zn-TCPP] (group of uniform materials based on organic salts) provided high photostability excellent thermal stability these...
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) underwent a substantial number of alterations, and the accompanying structural mutations in spike protein prompted questions about virus’s propensity to evade antibody neutralization produced by prior infection or vaccination. New SARS-CoV-2 have raised serious concerns regarding effectiveness drugs vaccines against virus; thus, identifying developing potent antiviral medications is crucial combat...
Simultaneous measurements of two output signals from an ionic liquid–polymer composite-based QCM sensor provide molecular weight information on vapor analytes.
Despite the rigorous global efforts to control SARS-CoV-2 transmission, it continues pose a serious threat humans with frequent emergence of new variants. Thus, robust therapeutics combat virus are desperate need. The spike (S) protein is an important target as mediates entry inside host cells, which initiated by binding receptor-binding domain (RBD) its cognate receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2). Herein, inhibition potential several naturally occurring coumarins was...
Finding new antibacterial agents from natural products is urgently necessary to address the growing cases of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. Actinomycetes are regarded as an excellent source therapeutically important secondary metabolites including antibiotics. However, they have not yet been characterized and explored in great detail for their utility developing countries such Nepal. In silico molecular docking addition antimicrobial assays used examine efficacy chemical scaffolds...
Abstract A novel approach for tuning spectral properties, as well minimizing aggregation, in zinc porphyrin and phthalocyanine‐based compounds is presented. Particular emphasis placed on use of these photosensitizers photodynamic therapy (PDT). To accomplish this aim, a bulky hydrophobic cation, trihexyltetradecylphosphonium, paired with anionic phthalocyanine dyes to produce group uniform materials based organic salts (GUMBOS) that absorb at longer wavelengths high molar absorptivity...
Energy relay dyes based on GUMBOS displayed improved characteristics in comparison to respective parent including solubility and solar efficiency.
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes COVID-19, has been a global concern. While there have some vaccines and drugs, rapid emergence of variants due to mutations threatened public health. As de novo drug development process is expensive time-consuming, repurposing existing antiviral drugs against SARS-CoV-2 an alternative promising approach mitigate current situation. Several studies indicated natural products exhibit inhibitory activities...
Fluorescein-based room temperature ionic liquid as a fluorescent probe for highly selective and sensitive detection of serum albumins.
Actinomycetes are natural architects of numerous secondary metabolites including antibiotics. With increased multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, antibiotics that can combat such pathogens urgently required to improve the health care system globally. The characterization actinomycetes available in Nepal is still very much untouched which reason why this paper showcases from based on their morphology, 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and metabolic profiling. Additionally, antimicrobial assays liquid...
Detection of hydrophobic peptides remains a major obstacle for matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). This stems from the fact that most matrices MALDI are hydrophilic and therefore have low affinities peptides. Herein, 1-aminopyrene (AP) AP-derived group uniform materials based on organic salts (GUMBOS) as novel MALDI-MS analyses were investigated peptides.A number solid-phase AP-based GUMBOS synthesized with variable hydrophobicity simply by changing...
