Abstract Background Multiple aberrant microRNA expression has been reported in gastric cancer. Among them, microRNA-335-5p (miR-335), a regulated by DNA methylation, to possess both tumor suppressor and promoter activities. Results Herein, we show that miR-335 levels are reduced cancer significantly associate with lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion, ultimately poor patient survival cohort Amerindian/Hispanic patients. In two cell lines AGS and, Hs 746T the exogenous decreases...
Blood pressure (BP) regulation is a complex process involving various hormones, including aldosterone and its mineralocorticoid receptor. Mineralocorticoid receptor expressed in several tissues, the kidney, plays crucial role regulating BP by controlling sodium water balance. During different stages of life, hormonal changes can affect activity levels, leading to BP. Increasing evidence suggests that sex steroids modulate levels. Estrogens, particularly estradiol, mediate biosynthesis...
A large proportion of patients with low-renin hypertension (LRH) correspond to primary aldosteronism (PA). However, some these subjects have low normal aldosterone. Since renin is driven by excessive mineralocorticoids or glucocorticoids acting on mineralocorticoid receptors (MRs), we hypothesize that a low-cortisone condition, associated classically 11βHSD2 deficiency, proxy chronic MR activation cortisol, which can also lead renin, elevated blood pressure, and renal vascular alterations.
<title>Abstract</title> In obesity, white adipose tissue (WAT) undergoes hypertrophic and hyperplastic changes that are driven by phenotypical in preadipocytes adipocytes. WAT also causes a chronic inflammatory state modifies gene expression the secretome, including shedding of adipose-derived extracellular vesicles (AdEVs) into circulation, with these AdEVs affecting other cell types potentially modifying their phenotypes. Aim: To evaluate effects on renal endothelial cells...
Abstract Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) describes a process by which cancer cells establish an alternative perfusion pathway in endothelial cell-free manner. Despite its strong correlation with reduced patient survival, controversy still surrounds the existence of vitro model VM. Furthermore, many studies that claim to demonstrate VM fail provide solid evidence true hollow channels, raising concerns as whether actual is actually being examined. Herein, we standardized assay recreates formation...
Context.—Advanced gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) is a highly fatal disease with poor prognosis and few therapeutic alternatives. The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) serine/threonine kinase that plays central role in cell growth homeostasis. Its regulation frequently altered various tumors an attractive for cancer therapy; however, its status GBC remains unclear. Objective.—To characterize immunohistochemical expression prognostic significance phospho-mTOR advanced carcinoma....
Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is a highly fatal disease with poor prognosis and few therapeutic alternatives. The molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of GBC remain poorly understood. vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) potent proangiogenic agent carcinogenesis many human tumors an attractive target for therapy. We characterized VEGF-A expression advanced its relation to clinicopathologic features. was examined by immunohistochemistry tissue microarrays containing 224...
Background: Gallbladder carcinoma is a highly malignant tumor and public health problem in some parts of the world. It characterized by poor prognosis its resistance to radio chemotherapy. There an urgent need develop novel therapeutic alternatives for treatment gallbladder carcinoma. The mammalian target rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway activated about 50% human malignancies, role has previously been suggested. In present study, we investigated phosphorylation status mTOR substrate p70S6K...
: The renin-angiotensin receptor AT2R controls systemic blood pressure and is also suggested to modulate metastasis of cancer cells. However, in the latter case, mechanisms involved downstream remain be defined. We recently described a novel Caveolin-1(CAV1)/Ras-related protein 5A (Rab5)/Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1) signaling axis that promotes melanoma, colon, breast Here, we evaluated whether antimetastatic effect connected inhibition this pathway. found murine...
Cervical cancer is a leading cause of deaths in women worldwide and infection by high-risk human papillomavirus types precursor event. The cellular FLICE-like inhibitory protein (c-FLIP) has been found to be overexpressed several cancers could associated with cervical progression because its ability inhibit the apoptotic process. To detect c-FLIP expression cancer, an immunohistochemical staining was performed, using tissue microarrays, on series 536 archival biopsy samples, including normal...
242 Background: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is a highly malignant tumor usually diagnosed at advanced stages and characterized by poor prognosis. Effective therapeutic strategies are urgently needed to improve the prognosis of GBC patients. Our objective was analyze expression mTOR/p70S6K pathway in primary tumors cell lines, evaluate effect mTOR inhibitors vitro vivo models GBC. Methods: The signaling components examined immunohistochemistry chronic cholecystitis (CC), Western blot eight...

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the leading causes death due to worldwide. Most cases have a poor prognosis non-curable surgical resection and limited efficacy chemotherapy. Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor (AT2R), an effector protein renin angiotensin system (RAS), reportedly deregulated in some human cancers implicated regulation several cancer-related cellular processes. However, our current understanding role this GC very limited. The objective study was evaluate expression AT2R during...
