The mobile colistin resistance gene mcr-1 has attracted global attention, as it heralds the breach of polymyxins, one last-resort antibiotics for treatment severe clinical infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. To date, six slightly different variants mcr-1, and a second gene, mcr-2, have been reported or annotated in GenBank database. Here, we characterized third mcr-3 coexisted with 18 additional determinants 261-kb IncHI2-type plasmid pWJ1 from porcine...
The oxazolidinone-resistant Enterococcus faecalis E349 from a human patient tested negative for the cfr gene and 23S rRNA mutations. Here we report identification of novel oxazolidinone resistance gene, optrA, first investigation extent to which this was present in E. faecium humans food-producing animals. The optrA identified by whole-plasmid sequencing subsequent cloning expression susceptible host. Transformation conjugation assays served investigate transferability optrA. All...
This study aimed to investigate the dissemination and characteristics of blaKPC, blaNDM, blaOXA-48, blaIMP, blaVIM among carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) strains isolated from adult children patients. A total 935 nonduplicate CRE were collected 36 hospitals in 24 provinces or cities across China 2016 2018. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed by broth microdilution method carbapenemase genes blaOXA-48-like, screened PCR confirmed DNA sequencing. Overall,...
We report the emergence of five carbapenem-resistant K1 hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKP) strains which caused fatal infections in hospital patients Zhejiang Province, China, upon entry through surgical wounds. Genotyping results revealed existence three genetically related exhibited a new sequence type, ST1797, and that all harbored magA wcaG virulence genes plasmid-borne bla(KPC-2) gene. These findings indicate hvKP is simultaneously hypervirulent, multidrug resistant, transmissible.
Phylogenomic analyses have helped resolve many recalcitrant relationships in the angiosperm tree of life, yet phylogenetic resolution backbone Leguminosae, one largest and most economically ecologically important families, remains poor due to generally limited molecular data incomplete taxon sampling previous studies. Here, we Leguminosae's thorniest nodes through comprehensive analysis plastome-scale using multiple modified coding noncoding sets 187 species representing almost all major...

A field investigation on the content of heavy metals in soils and dominant plants was conducted three sites (A<0.5 km, B<1.0 C<1.5 km) with different distances mine tailings. The spatial distribution accumulation were compared, candidate species for ecosystem restoration selected. results indicated that soil polluted by chromium (Cr), Cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni) varying degrees, which is 2.07, 2.60, 1.79, 4.49 times higher than Class-Ⅱ standard China. concentrate Ni, Cd, Zinc (Zn)...
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition characterized by atypical brain growth. While advances in neuroimaging and openly sharing large-sample datasets such as the Brain Imaging Data Exchange (ABIDE) have improved understanding of ASD, most studies focus on adolescents adults, with early development-critical for diagnosis intervention-remaining underexplored. Existing research predominantly involves Western samples, offering limited insight generalizability...
Hypervirulent and multidrug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strains pose a significant threat to the public health. In present study, 21 carbapenem-resistant K. isolates (CRKP) were determined by string test as hypermucoviscous (HMKP), with prevalence of 15.0% (21/140) among CRKP, 1.1% (21/1838) all isolates. Among them, 7 (33.3%), 1 (4.76%) isolate belonged capsular serotype K20 K2 respectively, while 13 (61.9%, 13/21) weren't successfully typed serotyping. All carbapenemase-producers...
Aim of this study was to analyse 17 non-related Enterococcus faecalis isolates human and animal origin for the genetic environment novel oxazolidinone/phenicol resistance gene optrA. WGS de novo assembly were conducted flanking sequences optrA in E. isolates. When located on a plasmid, conjugation assays performed check whether plasmids are conjugative confirm phenotype associated with these plasmids. All nine optrA-carrying conjugated into JH2-2 transconjugants exhibited optrA-associated...
Lung-protective ventilatory strategies have been widely used in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), but the ARDS mortality rate remains unacceptably high and there is no proven pharmacologic therapy.Mechanical ventilation can induce oxidative stress lung fibrosis, which may contribute to dependency on ventilator support increased mortality. We hypothesized that novel cytokine, midkine (MK), be up-regulated stress, plays a key role pathogenesis of ARDS-associated...
