Ambulatory electroencephalogram monitoring was performed for 18 HIV-infected subjects treated with efavirenz and without insomnia 13 healthy control subjects. All patients receiving had longer sleep latencies shorter duration of deep sleep, although poor sleepers also showed reduced efficiency rapid eye movement sleep. Efavirenz plasma levels were higher in and/or efficiency.
Volatile anaesthetics may have direct cardioprotective properties due to effects similar ischaemic preconditioning and postconditioning. Clinical results in cardiac surgery patients are controversial be related the timing of administration intraoperatively. We hypothesised that effect sevoflurane coronary bypass graft surgical would greater if during anaesthesia continued ICU for at least 4 h postoperatively until weaning from mechanical ventilation.Double-blind, double-dummy, prospective,...
Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) is a leading mental among adolescents globally and associated with premature mortality. Knowing the trends key determinants of ADHD in youth are critical for earlier diagnosis interventions. We retrospectively examined all hospitalizations patients aged 11 to 18 years Spain, using data from Spanish National Registry Hospital Discharges spanning 2000 2021. compared our available literature. Over 22-year study period, there were 2,015,589 118,609...
Postoperative pulmonary and non-pulmonary complications are common problems that increase morbidity mortality in surgical patients, even though the incidence has decreased with increased use of protective lung ventilation strategies. Previous trials have focused on standard strategies intraoperative or postoperative period, but without personalizing these to suit needs each individual patient considering both periods as a global perioperative lung-protective approach. The trial presented...
The Anesthetic Conserving Device--AnaConDa® (ACD)--has been compared with a conventional vaporizer. However, the accuracy of administered concentration volatile anesthetics was not examined. In present study we measured ACD when used as portable vaporizer. This prospective included 30 ASA I-III patients scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia. were randomly organized into 3 groups 10 per group. each group, sevoflurane infusion rate adjusted to deliver 1.0 vol%, 1.5 and 2.0...
New Findings What is the central question of this study? Although different studies have attempted to find factors that influence expression aquaporins (AQPs) in lung situations, date no research group has explored AQP1 and AQP5 jointly rats mechanically ventilated with tidal volumes a model ventilator‐induced injury. main finding? Mechanical ventilation high volume causes injury oedema, increasing permeability. In volume, pulmonary decreases. We analysed 1 5 its relation Forty‐two were...
Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) negatively affect morbidity, healthcare costs and postsurgical survival. Preoperative intraoperative peripheral oxyhemoglobin saturation (SpO2) levels are independent risk factors for postoperative (PPCs). The air-test assesses the value of SpO2 while breathing room-air. We aimed at building a clinical score that includes predicting PPCs.This is development validation study in patients -randomly divided into two cohorts- from large randomized...
Surgical site infection (SSI) is a serious postoperative complication that increases morbidity and healthcare costs. SSIs tend to increase as the partial pressure of tissue oxygen decreases: previous trials have focused on trying reduce them by comparing high versus conventional inspiratory fractions (FIO2) in perioperative period but did not use protocolised ventilatory strategy. The open-lung approach restores functional lung volume improves gas exchange, therefore it may for given FIO2....
Introduction Perceived and anticipated stigma is relevant issues in patients with schizophrenia. Stigma has negative consequences both quality of life the course illness. Objectives To analyze degree perceived discrimination schizophrenia their relationship clinical socio-demographic variables. Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out a sample 100 diagnosis schizophrenia, 18 or more years old, clinically stabilized, without axis I DSM-IV comorbidity. Patients received treatment...
<title>Abstract</title> Background and objective: Level of Education (LoE) is widely used as an indicator cognitive reserve associated with risk dementia. The aim the present study was to know influence LoE on change in function (CF) patients Parkinson´s disease (PD). Patients Methods: Controls PD from Spanish cohort COPPADIS a duration symptoms onset ≤ 5 years, who were recruited January/2016 November/2017 (baseline visit; V0) evaluated at 2 (V2), 4 (V4) (V5) years follow-up included....
Introduction Perceived and anticipated stigma are relevant issues in patients with schizophrenia. Stigma has negative consequences both quality of life the course illness. Objectives To analyze differences perceived discrimination two groups schizophrenia: one a recent diagnosis illness another long disease. Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out sample 100 schizophrenia, 18 or more years old, clinically stabilized, without axis I DSM-IV comorbidity. Patients received treatment...
