Abstract According to the Grotthuss–Draper law, light must be absorbed by a substrate initiate photoreaction. There have been several reports, however, on promotion of photoreactions using hypervalent iodine during irradiation with from non‐absorbing region. This contradiction gave rise mystery regarding involving iodine. We demonstrated that photoactivation apparently region proceeds via direct S 0 →T n transition, which has considered forbidden process. Spectroscopic, computational, and...

Abstract Background Cataract surgeries are increasing annually, making appropriate medical management essential. The routine use of systemic antimicrobial agents for preventing surgical site infections lacks strong evidence and may increase the risk drug-resistant bacteria adverse events. This study examined impact discontinuing cefazolin (CEZ) administration during perioperative period cataract surgery on incidence postoperative events costs. Benzophenone has an S0 → S1 absorption band at 365 nm. However, the rarely reported Tn transition occurs upon irradiation longer wavelengths. Herein, we employed benzophenone as a catalyst and exploited its in C(sp3)–H alkynylations with hypervalent iodine reagents. The selective excitation prevented alkynylating reagent decomposition, enabling reaction to proceed under mild conditions. mechanism was investigated by spectroscopic computational studies.

Pyrolytically prepared iron and nitrogen codoped carbon (Fe/N/C) catalysts are promising nonprecious metal electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in fuel cell applications. Fabrication of Fe/N/C with Fe–Nx active sites having precise structures is now required. We developed a strategy thermally controlled construction structure by applying bottom-up synthetic methodology based on N-doped graphene nanoribbon (N-GNR). The preorganized aromatic rings within precursors assist...

Master transcription factors such as TP63 establish super-enhancers (SEs) to drive core transcriptional networks in cancer cells, yet the spatiotemporal regulation of SEs within nucleus remains unknown. The nuclear pore complex (NPC) may tether where RNA export rates are maximal. Here, we report that NUP153, a component NPC, anchors NPC and enhances expression by maximizing mRNA export. This anchoring is mediated through protein-protein interaction between intrinsically disordered regions...
