Dry eye disease (DED) is one of the most common ocular surface diseases. Numerous patients with DED remain undiagnosed and inadequately treated, experiencing various subjective symptoms a decrease in quality life work productivity. A mobile health smartphone app, namely, DEA01, has been developed as noninvasive, noncontact, remote screening device, context an ongoing paradigm shift care system, to facilitate diagnosis DED.This study aimed evaluate capabilities DEA01 app diagnosis. In this...

Abstract Background Hay fever is a common allergic disease, with an estimated worldwide prevalence of 14.4% and variety symptoms. This study assessed the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) nasal symptom score (NSS), non‐nasal (NNSS), total symptoms (TSS) for app‐based hay‐fever monitoring. Methods MCIDs were calculated based on data from previous large‐scale, crowdsourced, cross‐sectional using AllerSearch, in‐house smartphone application. determined anchor‐based...

Probability matching is a classic theory of decision making that was first developed in models cognition. Posterior probability matching, variant which observers match their response probabilities to the posterior each being correct, used increasingly often perception. However, little known about whether consistent with vast literature on vision and hearing has within signal detection theory. Here we test using two tools from First, examine models' performance two-pass experiment, where...

Using traditional patient-reported outcomes (PROs), such as paper-based questionnaires, is cumbersome in the era of web-based medical consultation and telemedicine. Electronic PROs may reduce burden on patients if implemented widely. Considering promising reports DryEyeRhythm, our in-house mHealth smartphone app for investigating dry eye disease (DED) electronic Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) should be evaluated compared to determine their equivalency.

Athletes exhibit better dynamic visual acuity (DVA) compared with nonathletes, whereas action video game players (VGPs) perform more similarly to controls despite having similar static and refractive errors. The differences in DVA between groups were not related acuity, error, or smooth pursuit gain. The purpose of the study was examine whether athletes VGPs have superior than (nonathletes, nongamers).Forty-six participants (15 athletes, 11 VGPs, 20 controls) aged 21.7 years (standard...

Rice hull ash obtained by heat treatment and acid activated followed washing was not effective as an adsorbent for carotene in palm oil contrast to that reported adsorption of soy lutein. However, unwashed acid‐activated had activity much higher than carbon silica but slightly less a commercial bleaching clay. Heat raw rice hulls at temperatures below 300°C resulted the most active after activation. Drying 200°C reduced activity. The attributed adsorbed acid. results also suggested removal...
