We report on nine patients (eight cases of MS and one case NMOSD) who presented a disease relapse in close temporal association with their first AZD1222 vaccination dose against COVID-19. These had been stable for median period six years, no evidence activity change medication. After 13 days (7 to 25 days) from vaccination, they developed new increased disability lesions magnetic resonance imaging. Although this may be rare, it might an adverse event AZD1222.

Background and Objectives
To describe the clinical features disease outcomes of coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).
Methods
The Neuroimmunology Brazilian Study Group has set up report severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV2) cases NMOSD (pwNMOSD) using a designed web-based case form. All neuroimmunology outpatient centers individual neurologists were invited to register their across country. Data collected...
Little information is available regarding the incidence and clinical outcome of SARS-CoV2 infection in patients with multiple sclerosis (pwMS).To determine incidence, outcome, impact COVID-19 on pwMS.This observational study was prospectively performed a cohort pwMS (N = 11,560) followed up by 47 out 51 Brazilian MS referral centers that registered at REDONE platform from 13 March to 4 June 2020.The for 27.7/10,000 general population 29.2/10,000 inhabitants. A total 94 (77 women) patients,...
Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is an autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. NMOSD starting after age 50 years considered a "late onset" (LO-NMOSD) and seems to be particularly aggressive. The objective this paper present series 37 Brazilian patients with LO-NMOSD. Retrospective data collection from medical records LO-NMOSD seen at 14 specialized units. ratio women men in sample was 4.3 1. were followed up for median period 4 years. Sex, onset, ethnic...
Background. Studies on the clinical course of multiple sclerosis have indicated that certain initial factors are predictive disease progression. Regions with a low prevalence for disease, which environmental and genetic differ from areas high prevalence, lack studies progressive disabling characteristics disease. Objective. To analyse long-term evolution to phase relapsing-remitting its prognosis in mixed population. Methods. We performed survival study logistic regression examine influence...
Recent studies have suggested faster clinical progression and greater disability in multiple sclerosis patients of African descent. This study analysed the effect ethnicity on disability. Sixty-five with primary progressive were selected classified as being descent or white. Time from onset disease until reaching Expanded Disability Status Scale grades 3, 6, 8 was assessed, well irreversible (Expanded grade maintained for ≥6 months). In group, median time to reach 3 1 year shorter (1 vs 2...
The Scientific Department of Neuroimmunology the Brazilian Academy Neurology (DCNI/ABN) and Committee for Treatment Research in Multiple Sclerosis Neuroimmunological Diseases (BCTRIMS) provide recommendations this document vaccination population with demyelinating diseases central nervous system (CNS) against infections general severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID-19. We emphasize seriousness current situation view spread COVID-19 our country....
Treatment options for multiple sclerosis (MS) have changed over the last few years, bringing about a new category of drugs with more efficient profiles. However, these come whole profile potential adverse events that neurologists to learn well and quickly. One most feared complications MS treatments is progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy caused by reactivation John Cunningham virus (JCV).To identify serologic JCV in patients MS.Data on serum antibodies were obtained using...
Objective. The present study aims to evaluate the conditions associated with progression of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and patients' dysfunctions. Methods. We perform a retrospective longitudinal analytical observational in 46 patients MS from polyclinic at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. used Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) rank according their disability establish correlation risk factors, treatment time disease. Results. Of patients, 69.6% were female 67.4% white. Patients fewer functional...
Background: Although more prevalent in higher latitudes, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) also affects individuals who live tropical areas. Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders (NMOSD), on the other hand, is regions. For both demyelinating conditions, endemic infections may be a serious complicating factor. Methods: This was comprehensive review carried out by panel of specialists. The most found between latitudes 23°27´ (Tropic Cancer) and -23°27´ Capricorn) were , tuberculosis, Hansen’s...
