Zika virus (ZIKV) is responsible for a major ongoing epidemic in the Americas and has been causally associated with fetal microcephaly. The development of safe effective ZIKV vaccine therefore an urgent global health priority. Here we demonstrate that three different platforms protect against challenge rhesus monkeys. A purified inactivated induced ZIKV-specific neutralizing antibodies completely protected monkeys strains from both Brazil Puerto Rico. Purified immunoglobulin vaccinated also...

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are fermentation end products produced by the intestinal microbiota and have anti-inflammatory histone deacetylase–inhibiting properties. Recently, a dual relationship between intestine kidneys has been unraveled. Therefore, we evaluated role of SCFA in an AKI model which inflammatory process detrimental role. We observed that therapy with three main SCFAs (acetate, propionate, butyrate) improved renal dysfunction caused injury. This protection was associated...

Abstract The pandemic caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS- CoV-2) has resulted in several thousand deaths worldwide just a few months. Patients who died from disease 2019 (COVID-19) often had comorbidities, such as hypertension, diabetes, and chronic obstructive lung disease. angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE2) was identified crucial factor that facilitates SARS-CoV2 to bind enter host cells. To date, no study assessed ACE2 expression lungs of patients with...

Severe COVID-19 patients present a clinical and laboratory overlap with other hyperinflammatory conditions such as hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). However, the underlying mechanisms of these remain to be explored. Here, we investigated transcriptome 1596 individuals, including in comparison healthy controls, acute inflammatory states (HLH, multisystem syndrome children [MIS-C], Kawasaki disease [KD]), different respiratory infections (seasonal coronavirus, influenza, bacterial...

Leptin is an adipose‐secreted hormone that plays important role in both metabolism and immunity. has been shown to induce T h1‐cell polarization inhibit h2‐cell responses. Additionally, leptin induces h17‐cell responses, inhibits regulatory ( reg) cells modulates autoimmune diseases. Here, we investigated whether mediates its activity on by influencing dendritic DC s) promote h17 reg‐cell immune responses mice. We observed deficiency (i) reduced the expression of maturation markers, (ii)...

We report on nine patients (eight cases of MS and one case NMOSD) who presented a disease relapse in close temporal association with their first AZD1222 vaccination dose against COVID-19. These had been stable for median period six years, no evidence activity change medication. After 13 days (7 to 25 days) from vaccination, they developed new increased disability lesions magnetic resonance imaging. Although this may be rare, it might an adverse event AZD1222.

COVID-19 causes more than million deaths worldwide. Although much is understood about the immunopathogenesis of lung disease, a lot remains to be known on neurological impact COVID-19. Here, we evaluated immunometabolic changes using astrocytes in vitro and dissected brain areas SARS-CoV-2 infected Syrian hamsters. We show that alters proteins carbon metabolism, glycolysis, synaptic transmission, many which are altered diseases. Real-time respirometry evidenced hyperactivation further...

Zika virus (ZIKV) poses a significant threat due to its association with severe neurological complications, particularly during pregnancy. Although viruses exhibit tropism for neural cells, including astrocytes, the role of these cells in controlling ZIKV replication remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrated that induces caspase‐1 activation primary astrocytes despite absence classical signs inflammasome activation. Caspase‐1 and caspase‐11 double knockout ( caspase‐1/11 −/− )...
