Abstract Background DNA mismatch repair proficient (pMMR) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is not responsive to pembrolizumab monotherapy. methyltransferase inhibitors can promote antitumor immune responses. This clinical trial investigated whether concurrent treatment with azacitidine enhances the activity of in mCRC. Methods We conducted a phase 2 single-arm evaluating and tolerability plus patients chemotherapy-refractory mCRC (NCT02260440). Patients received 200 mg IV on day 1 100 SQ...
Hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEH) is a rare vascular tumor of the liver with an unpredictable malignant potential. Its growth can lead to hepatic failure, extrahepatic metastasis and death. Surgical resection or transplantation treatment choice if not identified. Several antineoplastic agents have been proposed for cases nonresectable HEH. We report case 52-year-old patient HEH metastatic lungs who was successfully treated oral thalidomide therapy.
Given the tolerability of nPG in first-line therapy, we desired to evaluate response and toxicity profiles second-line gemcitabine with nab-paclitaxel (nPG) following FOLFIRINOX. Methods: We retrospectively identified 30 patients who received FOLFIRINOX for unresectable or metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma followed by nPG. Response was evaluated RECIST criteria carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) change.Median age 63 years 77% percent having disease. Nineteen (63%) achieved PR based on...
3054 Background: Microsatellite stable (MSS) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) has relatively poor tumoral infiltration of CD8 + T cells and is resistant to pembrolizumab (Pembro) when compared MSI-H mCRC. DNA hypomethylating agent induces epigenetic expression multiple genes including cancer-testis antigens in CRC, which are recognized by cytotoxic vitro vivo. This trial tested whether concurrent treatment with azacitidine (Aza) could enhance the anti-tumor activity Pembro. Methods: a...

Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare, multisystem disorder of macrophages. Patients manifest with histiocytic infiltrates that lead to xanthogranulomatous lesions in multiple organ systems. The cytologic features this are not well characterized. As result, the diagnosis ECD can be very challenging. aim report describe cytomorphology patient presenting retroperitoneal soft tissue lesion. A 54-year-old woman proptosis and diabetes insipidus was found on imaging studies have intracranial...
After increased requests for biopsies clinical trials and biomarker research, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center created a trial research service that partnered pathology, radiology, medicine to facilitate rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and/or core needle biopsy (CNB) samples confirm presence tumor in these studies.Clinical coordinators organized patients needing trials, informed cytopathology radiology team. ROSE was performed sufficient FNA specimens...
Thoracic SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated tumor (SMARCA4-UT) is a rare entity that was recently described in the current World Health Organization Classification of Tumors. These lesions are highly aggressive with dismal prognosis, and most patients present metastasis at time diagnosis. While there about 100 cases SMARCA4-UT literature, only few existing reports describe cytomorphology these lesions. We patient masses involving mediastinum, right lung, supraclavicular lymph node adrenal...
173 Background: DNA mismatch repair (MMR) proficient colorectal cancer (CRC) is resistant to immune checkpoint therapy compared MMR deficient CRC. hypomethylating agents may promote anti-tumor response by re-expression of cancer-testis antigen and reactivating genes suppressed methylation. This trial tested whether epigenetic modulation concurrent treatment with azacitidine could enhance the activity pembrolizumab in mCRC. Methods: Phase II was conducted evaluate activity, safety,...

We report our experience with percutaneous, computed tomography (CT) guided gastrostomy placement into the gastric remnant after laparoscopic RYGBP (LRYGBP). Of 431 consecutive LRYGBP performed, 7 patients underwent CT-guided (1.6%). One additional patient was referred from another facility. Gastrostomy tubes were placed following a uniform approach. reviewed indications, interval between surgery to intervention, time removal, complications and success-outcome of procedure in population....
e14016 Background: Small biopsies and cytology specimens are becoming increasingly important for clinical trials biomarker testing. Thus, institutions must ensure that there is adequate lesional material meeting specifications a multitude of different protocols, which can involve rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE). The aim this study to look at the recent trial biopsy characteristics feedback on these collections our institution. Methods: Clinical performed institution (so called “queries”)...
