Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive cancer with a poor prognosis. Accurate preoperative assessment using computed tomography (CT) to determine resectability crucial in ensuring patients are offered the most appropriate therapeutic strategy. Despite use of classification guidelines, any interobserver variability between reviewing surgeons and radiologists may confound decisions influencing patient treatment pathways.
To assess the association between neoadjuvant therapy and overall survival (OS) in patients with left-sided resectable pancreatic cancer (RPC) compared to upfront surgery. Left-sided is associated worse OS right-sided cancer. Although currently seen as not effective RPC, current randomized trials included mostly RPC. International multicenter retrospective study including consecutive after resection for pathology-proven either or surgery 76 centers from 18 countries on 4 continents...
746 Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterised by a dense, extracellular matrix-rich stroma, which creates physical barrier against drug penetration. Evidence suggests that the iRGD peptide, LSTA-1, can increase penetration of anti-cancer drugs to tumours through selective targeting tumour endothelial cell receptors. Additionally, LSTA-1 administration promotes CD8+ immune infiltration, potentially enabling immunotherapy as treatment modality. iLSTA examined safety,...
757 Background: Chemotherapy is the standard of care for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), however, recent research has identified bacteria in human gut microbiome that may influence patient response to chemotherapy. These are also present faeces, and thought be representative system. Preliminary studies have suggested patients with more advanced PDAC demonstrate lower levels Firmicutes, higher Proteobacteria. Additionally, shown Firmicutes phylum possess several anti-cancer...
Background: Laparoscopic transcystic bile duct exploration (LTCBDE) represents a secure and efficacious approach for managing common (CBD) stones, particularly in patients concurrently undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). The decision to proceed with LTCBDE hinges on real-time assessment of the intraoperative cholangiogram (IOC), which is highly operator-dependent poorly interpreted. No established criteria exist guide evaluation IOCs LTCBDE. This study aims ascertain concordance...
This study aimed to compare surgical and oncological outcomes after minimally invasive pancreatoduodenectomy (MIPD) versus open (OPD) for distal cholangiocarcinoma (dCCA).
ABSTRACT A glasshouse fertilizer trial (omission principle) was conducted to investigate the effect of nutrient status three problem Ciskei soils on yield and quality essential oil Tagetes minuta L. Acute inherent deficiencies N P (3 soils) S (2 were reflected in drastically reduced herbage yields. N-deficiency also resulted a dramatic increase dihydrotagetone content oil. The major components not materially influenced by substrate. In two soils, vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhiza developed...
ABSTRACT It has been shown that statistically significant higher oil yields could be obtained from Artemisia afra when the plants were harvested during anthesis and early seed set. The chemical composition of four generations same clone was found to very constant. On examination wild populations A. afra, existence chemotypes revealed. Oils rich in 1, 8-cineole (50.14%), α-thujone (74.91–75.28%), β-thujone (21.49–22.44%), camphor (27.92%) found.
SUMMARY Milled grass particles were coated with n-alkanes and suspended in a xanthan gum solution. Experiments snowed that could be uniformly alkanes by means of rotary evaporator. Further experiments showed the particles, stable suspension, accurately dispensed. The coefficients variation alkane content per dose delivered dosing gun syringe 2·6 2·3%, respectively. There was no significant difference between concentration faecal derived from dosed suspension-form placed directly into rumen.
To assess radiographic outcomes from ED reduction of Colles-type fractures.Prospective cohort. One tertiary hospital in Western Australia. All patients (184) between ages 21-85 years, presenting to with fractures 1 April 2006 31 July 2008. Fractures were divided into two groups. Those <or=15 degrees dorsal angulation classified as 'minimally displaced' and those >15 'displaced'.Radiographic analysis the angle on post-reduction 6 week post-fracture X-rays. A combined end-point poor outcome,...
Abstract Background Hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) is a hepatocyte derived neoplastic lesion with an increasing incidence and strong association oestrogen therapy. Laparoscopic resection has proven safe for small, non‐ruptured lesions whilst its use large adenomas (≥10 cm) cases of haemorrhage requires further investigation. Methods All patients undergoing liver HCA at the Royal Brisbane Hospital between January 2003 April 2018 were analysed. Ethics approval was obtained. Results Thirty‐three...
Background: Major liver resections, performed for malignant and symptomatic benign tumours, carries a risk of post Hepatectomy Liver Failure (PHLF).Computed tomography biochemical tests provide information on volumes global function, however mebrofenin Hepatobiliary Scintigraphy (HBS) has the added benefit assessing regional function.A remnant function 2.7%/min/m 2 been suggested to prevent PHLF, those with insufficient are able undergo augmentation facilitate surgery. We aim review outcomes...
Eriocephalus punctulatus, also known as, ‘Kapok Bos’, belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is an attractively scented woody shrub, that reaches a height of about one metre. produces highly priced essential oil with dark blue colour and attractive fresh fruity fragrance. The most profitable time harvest this crop in Eastern Cape during months October November when plants have reached full flower/seed set stage. However, there major reduction yield, per kilogram vegetative material,...
The first phase in the domestication programme of Eriocephalus punctulatus involved establishing how this crop could be harvested without adversely affecting plant vigour and longevity. second was development harvesting schedules that would result high yields oil longevity plants. Highest yield occurred mature plants once they had reached flowering stage. For optimum recovery, material must processed within seven days. Other post- management practices such as effect drying before...
Background: To compare adjuvant chemotherapy completion rates in patient's post-pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) with and without exposure to the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted all PD patients adenocarcinomas, who commenced either had pre-ERAS (n=19) or ERAS (n=66) protocol between 2009 2017.Data analysed via Chi-square, logistic regression Kaplan-Meier analysis. Results: Pre-ERAS displayed similar (79%).However, higher America...
