We have developed a size series of unusually small, water-soluble (InAs)ZnSe (core)shell quantum dots (QDs) that emit in the near-infrared and exhibit new behavior vivo, including multiple sequential lymph node mapping extravasation from vasculature. The biological utility these fluorescent probes resulted our intentional choice to match semiconductor material ligand with desired final hydrodynamic diameter emission wavelength.

Background Myocardial reperfusion is believed to be associated with free radical injury. However, indexes of oxidative stress in vivo have been limited by their poor specificity and sensitivity. Isoprostanes are stable products arachidonic acid formed a nonenzymatic, radical–catalyzed manner. We developed sensitive specific assay for one these compounds, 8-epi prostaglandin (PG) F 2α . Methods Results To address its utility as an index during coronary reperfusion, we measured urinary levels...

It derived dehydration and confirmed by in situ FT-IR, TG, elemental analysis. Moreover, we elucidate the novel expansion/shrinkage dynamic modulation of 2 triggered clathrate formation with gas molecules.

Quantum dots with a core/shell/shell structure consisting of an alloyed core InAsxP1-x, intermediate shell InP, and outer ZnSe were developed. The InAsxP1-x has graded internal composition increasing arsenic content from the center to edge dots. This compositional gradient results two apparent effects: (1) faster reaction kinetics phosphorus precursor compared precursor, (2) post-growth arsenic−phosphorus exchange that increases content. cores have zinc blend for all compositions show...

Intraoperative near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging provides the surgeon with real-time image guidance during cancer and other surgeries. We have previously reported use of NIR fluorescent quantum dots (QDs) for sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping.
