Increasing the intrinsic nutritional quality of crops, known as biofortification, is viewed a sustainable approach to alleviate micronutrient deficiencies. In particular, iron deficiency anemia major global health issue, but content staple crops such wheat (Triticum aestivum) difficult change because genetic complexity and homeostasis mechanisms. To identify target genes for biofortification wheat, we functionally characterized homologs VACUOLAR IRON TRANSPORTER (VIT). The genome contains...

We have isolated and characterized complete cDNAs for two isoforms (HSPDE4D4 HSPDE4A5) encoded by the human PDE4D gene, one of four genes that encode cAMP-specific rolipram-inhibited 3ʹ,5ʹ-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (type IV PDEs; PDE4 family). The HSPDE4D4 HSPDE4D5 proteins 810 746 amino acids respectively. A comparison sequences these with those encoding three other (HSPDE4D1, HSPDE4D2 HSPDE4D3) demonstrates each corresponding mRNA transcript has a unique region sequence at or...

Ninety percent of women with EC present postmenopausal bleeding (PMB), but less than 10% PMB have a sinister underlying cause. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance advises that symptomatic undergo urgent investigation; however, unclear premenopausal women. Current investigations PMB, including transvaginal ultrasound scan, endometrial biopsy and/or outpatient hysteroscopy, advantages...

Topographically modified substrates are increasingly used in tissue engineering to enhance biomimicry. The overarching hypothesis is that topographical cues will control cellular response at the cell-substrate interface. The influence of anisotropically ordered poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (constant groove width ~1860 nm; constant line ~2220 variable depth ~35, 306 and 2046 nm) on vitro vivo osteogenesis were assessed. We demonstrate with depths approximately nm promote osteoblast alignment...
