Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of pediatric death, with >99% mortality occurring in low- and lower middle-income countries. At least half RSV-related deaths are estimated to occur the community, but clinical characteristics this group children remain poorly characterized. The RSV Global Online Mortality Database (RSV GOLD), global registry under-5 who have died illness, describes dying through data sharing. GOLD acts as collaborative platform for deaths, including...
Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) may be a life threatening nosocomial infection encountered in intensive care units. Currently the emergence of carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative pathogens has become worrisome threat worldwide.
Abstract INTRODUCTION: Infectious diarrhea is leading infectious cause of childhood morbidity, hospitalizations, and mortality particularly in children living developing countries like India. The etiological agents differ depending on geographical area, recent data suggest increase drug resistance to various enteropathogens. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: aim the study was investigate emerging diarrheal antimicrobial profile bacterial pathogens from (<12 years age) hospitalized with acute diarrhea....
Background Healthcare-associated urinary tract infections (HAUTIs) caused by gram-negative pathogens have emerged as a global concern. So far, little is known about the epidemiology of extended-spectrum β lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in HAUTIs India. The study was carried to determine antibiotic resistance pattern ESBL-producing genes E. K. strains isolated from tertiary institute North Methods A total 200 consecutive, nonduplicate clinical isolates...
Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAb), a major public health threat, causes severe infections in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients. It resists β-lactam antibiotics through mechanisms like New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase (NDM). In ICU patients, 69 species were isolated from 86 non-fermenting Gram-negative bacilli. Isolates identified using biochemical methods and Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry (MS), carbapenem...
Chryseobacterium indologenes is an emerging multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacillus associated with severe nosocomial infections. We present a case of 27-year-old postpartum woman who developed life-threatening sepsis following stillbirth. Despite prompt diagnosis and intensive care management, the patient’s condition deteriorated rapidly was fatal. Thus, highlighting challenges posed by nature this pathogen limited treatment options available.
, a gram-negative bacterium is found ubiquitously in soil and water. It very rare organism to cause human infection. Here we report fatal case of septicaemia due young female with duodenal perforation. Blood culture showed isolation identified by MALDI-TOF-MS. The patient was treated meropenem piperacillin tazobactam, but she died nine days after surgery. To our knowledge, this the causing septicemia
Introduction: Diabetes and hypertension are among the most common non-communicable diseases affecting our population. They important risk factors for cardiovascular morbidity mortality. Objective: The study was performed to estimate association of dyslipidaemia with increasing body weight obesity in Type II diabetics. Methods: This one year cross sectional conducted by enrolling 677 diabetics subjects from rural health training centre integral institute medical sciences, Lucknow, India. MS...
Carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) has become a menace in several intensive care units, which needs to be controlled immediately after being reported by laboratory. Detection the laboratory is usually done using phenotypic methods and it not known whether knowledge of these genes helps individual patient management. This study aimed compare outcomes oxacillinases β-lactamases (OXA-48) New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM-1)-producing CRKP isolates, two most common...
