Abstract Brown adipose tissue (BAT) plays a central role in regulating energy homeostasis and may provide novel strategies for the treatment of human obesity. BAT-mediated thermogenesis is regulated by mitochondrial uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) classical brown ectopic beige adipocytes controlled sympathetic nervous system (SNS). Previous work indicated that fish oil intake reduces fat accumulation induces UCP1 expression BAT; however, detailed mechanism this effect remains unclear. In study,...

Uncoupling protein (UCP)-1 expressed in brown adipose tissue plays an important role thermogenesis. Recent data suggest that brown-like adipocytes white (WAT) and skeletal muscle play a crucial the regulation of body weight. Understanding mechanism underlying increase UCP-1 expression level these organs should, therefore, provide approach to managing obesity. The thyroid hormone (TH) has profound effects on mitochondrial biogenesis promotes mRNA UCP tissue. However, action TH induction WAT...

Background and Purpose— To elucidate the mechanisms prognosis of rotational vertebral artery occlusion (RVAO). Methods— We analyzed clinical radiological characteristics, patterns induced nystagmus, outcome in 21 patients (13 men, aged 29–77 years) with RVAO documented by dynamic cerebral angiography during an 8-year period at 3 University Hospitals Korea. The follow-up periods ranged from 5 to 91 months (median, 37.5 months). Most (n=19; 90.5%) received conservative treatments. Results— All...

Lipin1 expression was induced at a late stage of differentiation 3T3-L1 preadipocytes and maintained high levels in mature adipocytes. Knockdown lipin1 by small interfering RNA almost completely inhibited into adipocytes, whereas overexpression accelerated adipocyte differentiation, demonstrating that is required for differentiation. In transfection lipin1-small decreased the functional genes, indicating involvement maintenance function. increases transcription-activating function peroxisome...

Gut microbiota can regulate the host energy metabolism; however, underlying mechanisms that could involve gut microbiota-derived compounds remain to be understood. Therefore, in this study, we investigated effects of KetoA [10-oxo-12(Z)-octadecenoic acid]-a linoleic acid metabolite produced by lactic bacteria-on whole-body metabolism and found dietary intake enhance expenditure mice, thereby protecting mice from diet-induced obesity. By using Ca2+ imaging whole-cell patch-clamp methods, was...

Abstract Adipose tissue (AT) adapts to overnutrition in a complex process, wherein specialized immune cells remove and replace dysfunctional stressed adipocytes with new fat cells. Among recruited AT, lipid-associated macrophages (LAMs) have emerged as key players obesity diseases involving lipid stress inflammation. Here, we show that LAMs selectively express transmembrane 4 L six family member 19 (TM4SF19), lysosomal protein represses acidification through its interaction Vacuolar-ATPase....

Obesity causes excess fat accumulation in white adipose tissues (WAT) and also other insulin-responsive organs such as the skeletal muscle, increasing risk for insulin resistance, which can lead to obesity-related metabolic disorders.
