The mechanism of action the Vacuum Assisted Closure Therapy (VAC; KCI, San Antonio, Texas), a recent novel innovation in care wounds, remains unknown. In vitro studies have revealed that cells allowed to stretch tend divide and proliferate presence soluble mitogens, whereas retracted remain quiescent. authors hypothesize application micromechanical forces wounds vivo can promote wound healing through this cell shape-dependent, mechanical control mechanism. created computer model (finite...

Epidemiologic studies and clinical description of severe Plasmodium vivax malaria in adults living malaria-endemic areas are rare more attention is needed to understand the dynamics its interaction with immune system. This observational study included 1,091 adult patients admitted medical wards S. P. Medical College associated group hospitals Bikaner, India from September 2003 through December 2005. The diagnosis was established by peripheral blood film (PBF), rapid diagnostic test (RDT),...

Abstract We report 11 cases of severe Plasmodium vivax malaria in Bikaner (western India). Patients exhibited cerebral malaria, renal failure, circulatory collapse, anemia, hemoglobinurea, abnormal bleeding, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and jaundice. Peripheral blood microscopy, parasite antigen–based assays, 18s rRNA gene–based polymerase chain reaction showed the presence P. absence falciparum.

Sudden death is one of the more frequent causes for hemodialysis patients, but underlying mechanisms, contribution arrhythmia, and associations with serum chemistries or dialysis procedure are incompletely understood. To study this, implantable loop recorders were utilized continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring to detect clinically significant arrhythmias including sustained ventricular tachycardia, bradycardia, asystole, symptomatic in patients over six months. Serum tested pre- post-dialysis...

This guideline addresses the use of hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors (HIF-PHIs) in patients >18 years with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and anemia South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka). It also summarizes recommendations for treatment individual HIF-PHI molecules under two categories: dialysis-dependent non-dialysis-dependent CKD patients. The do not apply to pediatric (≤12 years) adolescent (12 18) or those primary secondary other causes...

Abstract Background The mosquito midgut is crucial for digestion and immune interactions. It produces several factors that protect the organ from invading pathogens can limit their propagation. Studies on transcriptome following pathogen exposure have revealed presence of non-canonical genes, such as ABC transporters, whose function in insect immunity remains unexplored. Therefore, this study focuses identifying characterising role transporters Aedes aegypti , a primary arboviral vector....

Malaria parasites transmitted by mosquito bite are remarkably efficient in establishing human infections. The infection process requires roughly 30 minutes and is highly complex as quiescent sporozoites injected with saliva must be rapidly activated the skin, migrate through body, infect liver. This poorly understood for Plasmodium vivax due to low infectivity vitro models. To study this skin-to-liver-stage of malaria, we used quantitative bioassays coupled transcriptomics evaluate parasite...
