Purpose . To analyze foveal microvascular abnormalities in different stages of diabetic retinopathy (DR) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) with projection artifact removal (PAR). Methods We analyzed 93 eyes 59 patients diabetes—31 no DR (no DR), 34 mild to moderate nonproliferative (mild and 28 severe proliferative (severe DR)—and 31 age-matched healthy controls. Sections measuring 3 × mm 2 centered on the fovea were obtained OCTA. The area, perimeter, acircularity index...

Abstract Acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) remains a major obstacle for the wider usage of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), which is an effective therapy malignancy. Here we show that caspase-11, cytosolic receptor bacterial endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide: LPS), enhances GVHD severity. Allo-HSCT markedly increases LPS-caspase-11 interaction, leading to cleavage gasdermin D (GSDMD). Caspase-11 and GSDMD mediate release interleukin-1α (IL-1α) in allo-HSCT....

Voracious feeding, trans-continental migration and insecticide resistance make Spodoptera litura among the most difficult Asian agricultural pests to control. Larvae exhibit strong circadian behavior, feeding actively at night hiding in soil during daytime. The daily pattern of larval metabolism was reversed, with higher transcription levels genes for digestion (amylase, protease, lipase) detoxification (CYP450s, GSTs, COEs) daytime than night. To investigate control these processes, we...

Rare but critical bleeding events in primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) present life-threatening complications patients with ITP, which severely affect their prognosis, quality of life, and treatment decisions. Although several studies have investigated the risk factors related to large sample size data, consistent definitions, large-scale multicenter findings, prediction models for ITP are unavailable. For first time, this study, we applied newly proposed criteria by International...

The molting hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) plays a key role in insect development, metamorphosis, and reproduction. Previous studies have shown that ecdysteroid metabolism is regulated by series of CYP genes most the species. However, roles these Coleopteran beetle, Aethina tumida (small hive SHB) not yet been explored. In current study, we identified seven (six Halloween one AtCYP18A1 gene) related to 20E metabolism. Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR)...

Background Cancer immunotherapy has produced significant positive clinical effects in a variety of tumor types. However, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is widely considered to be “cold” cancer with poor immunogenicity. Our aim determine the detailed immune features PDAC seek new treatment strategies. Methods The cell abundance patients was evaluated single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) using 119 signatures. Based on these data, were classified into different subtypes...

Tuina can effectively alleviate ulcerative colitis-related symptoms, but the mechanism of action is unknown. The purpose this research to explore potential pathways for treatment tuina through gut microbiota and proteomics techniques. Thirty-two male BALB/c mice were divided into four groups, control, model, mesalazine, groups. colitis model was established by freely drinking a 3% dextran sulphate sodium solution 7 days. mesalazine group group, respectively, received days treatment....

ObjectiveTo investigate the mechanism of six-method massage antipyretic process (SMAP) and its influence on body's metabolic state.MethodsThe random number table method was used to divide 24 New Zealand 2-month-old rabbits with qualified basal body temperature into a control group, model group (n = 8 per group). The groups were injected 0.5 μg/ml lipopolysaccharide (1 ml/kg) auricular vein, same amount normal saline at temperature. One hour after modelling, given SMAP (opening Tianmen,...

piRNAs play pivotal roles in maintaining genome stability, regulating gene expression, and modulating development immunity. However, there are few piRNA-associated studies on honey-bees, the regulatory role of bee guts is largely unknown. Here, differential expression pattern during developmental process European honey-bee (Apis mellifera) larval was analyzed, followed by investigation network potential function differentially expressed (DEpiRNAs) gut development. Obesity and its related metabolic complications represent a significant global health challenge. Central to this is the dysregulation of glucolipid metabolism, with predominant focus on glucose dysfunction in current research, whereas adipose metabolism impairment garners less attention. Abstract The prevalence of obesity has continued to rise, and its attendant metabolic disorders are major global health threat factors. Among the current interventions for obesity, none have demonstrated sustained efficacy in achieving long-term outcomes.
