Purpose Contrary to the extensive data accumulated regarding pancreatic carcinogenesis, clinical and molecular features characteristic of advanced stage (stage III IV) disease are unknown. A comprehensive study cancers from patients who have succumbed their has potential greatly expand our understanding most lethal this identify novel areas for intervention. Previous studies have highlighted the importance of an appropriate human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) evaluation for proper identification patients eligible treatment with anti-HER2 targeted therapies. Today, relationship remains unclear between level HER2 amplification and outcome HER2-positive gastric cancer treated first-line chemotherapy trastuzumab. The aim this study was to determine whether gene determined by HER2/CEP17 ratio copy number could significantly predict some...

Abstract Purpose: The role of E-cadherin in carcinogenesis is great interest, but few studies have examined its relevance to pancreatic carcinoma. Experimental Design: We evaluated protein expression by immunohistochemistry pancreatobiliary cancers having a noncohesive histologic phenotype (21 undifferentiated adenocarcinomas and 7 signet ring carcinomas), comparing the results with cohesive (25 moderately differentiated 14 poorly adenocarcinomas). Results: Twenty 21 had complete absence...

Nuclear functions for IkappaB kinase (IKK), including phosphorylation of histone H3 and nuclear corepressors, have been recently described. Here, we show that IKK is activated in colorectal tumors concomitant with the presence phosphorylated SMRT (silencing mediator retinoic acid thyroid hormone receptor) corepressor aberrantly localized cytoplasm. In these tumors, IKKalpha associates to chromatin specific Notch targets, leading release SMRT. Abrogation activity by BAY11-7082 or expressing...
