Background: A new autoantibody (termed NMO-IgG, or AQP4-Ab) has recently been described in patients with neuromyelitis optica (NMO) and its formes frustes, longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis (LETM) recurrent optic neuritis (rON). However, AQP4-Ab found also co-existing rheumatic diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) Sjögren’s syndrome (SS), conditions which are characterized by broad, polyspecific B cell activation. Objectives: In this study, we aimed at evaluating...

Chemo-radiation currently serves as first-line therapy of advanced and recurrent head neck cancer, while new chemotherapy regimens are emerging. However, response rates to any treatment difficult predict underlie broad variation. Objective Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) caused by vaccine‐induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is a rare adverse effect of adenovirus‐based severe acute respiratory syndrome‐coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) vaccines. In March 2021, after autoimmune pathogenesis VITT was discovered, treatment recommendations were developed. These comprised immunomodulation, non‐heparin anticoagulants, and avoidance platelet transfusion. The aim this study to evaluate adherence these its association...

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Recent reports proposed an increased EBV-targeted humoral immune response MS, which appears to be more pronounced pediatric patients. However, little is known about CNS-derived antibody production against EBV patients with MS. The objective this study was assess frequency and intensity intrathecal as compared other neurotropic viruses adult onset In cohorts 43 childhood, 50 MS patients, 20 children...

Abstract Introduction Comprehensive treatment of Herpes-simplex-virus-encephalitis (HSVE) remains a major clinical challenge. The current therapy gold standard is aciclovir, drug that inhibits viral replication. Despite antiviral treatment, mortality around 20% and majority survivors suffer from severe disability. Experimental research recent retrospective observations suggest favourable response to adjuvant dexamethasone. Currently there no randomized trial evidence, however, support the...

Neurologic symptoms rarely occur as presenting feature of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We describe a 37-year old woman who presented with several episodes transverse myelitis and optic neuritis. Clinical, radiologic laboratory findings were compatible neuromyelitis optica (NMO). Seven years after disease onset clinical diagnostic for SLE. This case illustrates that NMO may represent first manifestation SLE many years.

Here, we investigate whether current immunosuppressive therapy (IST) influences of SARS-CoV-2 infection and severity.Data from German registry were analyzed May 2020 until June 2021 included patient demographics, MG disease duration, comorbidities, IST use, characteristics, outcomes. Plasma fibronectin is a circulating protein that facilitates phagocytosis by connecting bacteria to immune cells. A isoform, which includes sequence of 90 AA called extra-domain B (EDB), synthesized de novo at the messenger RNA (mRNA) level in cells, but reason for its expression remains elusive. We detected an 80-fold increase EDB-containing cerebrospinal fluid patients with bacterial meningitis was most pronounced staphylococcal infections. role this isoform further suggested enhanced EDB...

Recent studies demonstrated a different clinical course depending on the tumour site. The aim study is to analyze histopathologic/clinical features BSCC/HNSCC resolved by HPV-status.We analysed BSCC (n=59) and HNSCC (n=981), subdivided due HPV status. Differences were using Chi square, Fisher exact, student's t-test. Survival rates calculated Kaplan-Meier log-rank test....
