This prospective study stratified patients by surgical resection (complete = NED vs incomplete ED) and centrally reviewed histology (World Health Organization [WHO] grade II III). WHO II/NED received focal radiotherapy (RT) up to 59.4 Gy with 1.8 Gy/day. Grade III/NED 4 courses of VEC (vincristine, etoposide, cyclophosphamide) after RT. ED 1–4 courses, second-look surgery, followed an 8-Gy boost in 2 fractions on still measurable residue. children aged 1–3 years tumors could receive 6 alone....

We explored the feasibility of concurrent palliative chemotherapy and low-dose fractionated radiotherapy (LD-FRT) in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Patients with recurrent/progressive GBM at least 3 months after end primary received 0.3 Gy twice daily cisplatin fotemustine if progressing on temozolomide, or 0.4 temozolomide recurrent 4-6 later (retreatment group). Newly diagnosed gross residual mass 30 concomitant adjuvant from second cycle (naive group) for 2-4 cycles. Twenty-six patients...

Age is an unfavorable prognostic factor in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). To assess the possibility and advantage of radiotherapy (RT) plus concomitant/sequential temozolomide (TMZ) patients over 65 years with GBM, we analyzed 4 prospective trials terms compliance outcomes.Elderly histologically proven included phase II studies a Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) >70 Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) <3, were selected for these analyses. Patients treated by 3D-conformal RT (60 Gy),...

Diffuse midline gliomas (DMGs) originate in the thalamus, brainstem, cerebellum and spine. This entity includes tumors that infiltrate pons, called diffuse intrinsic pontine (DIPGs), with a rapid onset devastating neurological symptoms. Since surgical removal DIPGs is not feasible, purpose of this study was to profile circulating miRNA expression DIPG patients an effort identify non-invasive prognostic signature clinical impact. Using high-throughput platform, profiled serum samples...

Chest wall reconstruction after surgical resection for malignancies in children is a challenge surgeons because of growth-related complications. The aim this study to analyze the treatment and outcomes 30 pediatric adolescent patients treated at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy, over 30-year period.Pediatric undergoing chest were retrospectively reviewed selected malignant primary tumor. Endpoints survival, recurrences, long-term results. We also reported use...

BackgroundTo evaluate the efficacy of preoperative low dose fractionated radiotherapy (LD-FRT) and chemotherapy in breast cancer.Materials methodsPatients with stage IIA–IIIA cancer, received LD-FRT (0.40 Gy bid, on day 1 2, for 6 cycles) to primary tumor volume concurrent non-pegylated liposomal anthracycline docetaxel. Pathological response was assessed by Mandard Tumor Regression Grade (TRG). We evaluated pathological major rate (PMRR) as TRG1 TRG2. The expected outcome a PMRR 60%....

Purpose Breast cancer survivors have a high risk of cardiac death as consequence heart irradiation during left breast tangential radiotherapy (RT). This study compares the dose delivered by standard 3D conformal RT (CRT) to that prospective-gating (PGRT) or 5-field intensity-modulated (IMRT). Methods Patients with early cancer, referred for adjuvant our institution, were enrolled in this study. For each patient, 2 simulation computed tomography scans acquired: first free breathing, and...

Abstract A standardized multidisciplinary step‐by‐step approach to improve the compliance of young (or difficult) children having undergo radiotherapy was described and applied. The procedure is called SIESTA, which stands for show‐imagination‐evaluation‐support‐treatment‐anesthesia. Preliminary assessments suggest that SIESTA effective: rate patients (≤6 years) requiring anesthesia decreased from 27% (14/52 cases) in 2011‐2012 (before adopted) 13% (6/46) 2018.
