Abstract Purpose: We evaluated the association of PSA and androgen receptor splice variant-7 (AR-V7) transcript levels in patients' blood with time to treatment failure (TTF) overall survival (OS) abiraterone acetate and/or enzalutamide castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients. Experimental Design: RNA AR-V7 peripheral collected before were quantified using droplet digital-PCR retrospective cohorts treated (N = 81) or 51) for CRPC. Multivariable Cox regression adjusted known...

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibition has been demonstrated to be an effective strategy in preserving the integrity of blood-brain barrier (BBB) patients with acute ischemic stroke. Loss BBB is key event associated morbidity and mortality these patients. However, underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. In present study, effects VEGF possible mechanism that underlies cerebral ischemia rats was investigated. Following induction transient middle artery occlusion for a...

Reprogramming of lipid metabolism, which modulates energy utilization and cell signaling, maintains survival promotes cancer metastasis in cells. Ferroptosis is a type necrosis caused by an overload oxidation, has been demonstrated to be involved metastasis. However, the mechanism fatty acid metabolism regulates anti-ferroptosis signaling pathways not fully understood. The formation ovarian spheroids helps counteract hostile microenvironment peritoneal cavity with low oxygen, shortage...

A previous controlled intervention trial showed that selenium supplementation was effective in reducing the incidence of prostate cancer. Physiological concentrations have also been reported to inhibit growth human cancer cells vitro. The present study describes observation able significantly down-regulate expression prostate-specific antigen (PSA) transcript and protein within hours androgen-responsive LNCaP cells. Decreases androgen receptor (AR) followed a similar dose time response...

Doxorubicin is an effective drug against breast cancer. However, the favorable therapeutic response to doxorubicin often associated with severe toxicity. The present research was aimed at developing a strategy of increasing sensitivity so that lower doses may be used without compromising efficacy. MCF-7 human cancer cell line currently in use our laboratory did not respond killing during 24-h treatment period. By combining selenium, we were successful producing brisk enhancement apoptosis....

AIM:To investigate the mechanism by which galangin, a polyphenolic compound derived from medicinal herbs, induces apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. METHODS:The 3-(4,5-Dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide assay was used to measure cell viability.Apoptosis evaluated in situ uptake propidium iodide and Hoechst 33258 then detected fluorescence microscopy.Protein expressions were Western blotting. To confirm apoptotic pathway mediated cells transfected bcl-2...

Abstract Galangin suppresses proliferation and induces apoptosis autophagy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells, but the precise mechanism is not clear. In this study, we demonstrated that galangin induced autophagy, enhanced binding of SIRT1-LC3 reduced acetylation endogenous LC3 HepG2 cells. But was inhibited by inactivation SIRT1 meanwhile, failed to reduce after knocked-down. Collectively, these findings demonstrate a new which via deacetylation SIRT1.

Abstract Androgen receptor splice variants (AR-V) are implicated in resistance of prostate cancer to androgen-directed therapies. When expressed alone cells, some AR-Vs (e.g., AR-V7) localize primarily the nucleus, whereas others AR-V1, AR-V4, and AR-V6) mainly cytoplasm. Significantly, latter often coexpressed with nucleus-predominant full-length AR (AR-FL). An important question be addressed is whether cytoplasmic-localized play a role castration-resistant (CRPC) through interaction AR-FL....
