The French pulmonary hypertension (PH) registry allows the survey of epidemiological trends. Isolated cases precapillary PH have been reported in patients who chronic myelogenous leukemia treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitor dasatinib. This study was designed to describe incident dasatinib-associated registry. From approval dasatinib (November 2006) September 30, 2010, 9 by at time diagnosis were identified. At diagnosis, had moderate severe functional and hemodynamic impairment. No other...

Acute respiratory failure (ARF) in patients with cancer is frequently a fatal event. To identify factors associated survival of admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) for ARF, we conducted prospective 5-year observational study medical ICU teaching hospital Paris, France. The were 203 ARF mainly due infectious pneumonia (58%), but also noninfectious (9%), congestive heart (12%), and no identifiable cause (21%). We measured clinical characteristics mortality rates.ICU was 44.8% 47.8%....

To investigate the capacity of pulmonary vascular bed to acutely vasodilate, we examined in 35 consecutive patients with primary hypertension (PPH), hemodynamic effects incremental inhalation periods an air-NO mixture at different concentrations (10, 20, and 40 ppm), compared them those acute infusion prostacyclin (PGI2). An individual vasodilator response was defined by a fall total resistance (TPR) > or = 30% relative mean TPR baseline value. Thirteen were responders 22 nonresponders both...

Cytokines play an important role in granuloma formation, but the extent that cytokine profiles are similar different granulomatous diseases and whether differences histopathologic features of response results from production have not been evaluated. To investigate these questions, we used RT-PCR to quantify expression mRNAs coding for 16 cytokines lymph nodes patients with tuberculosis sarcoidosis control tissues, sought correlations between level granulomas. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-derived (MALT) lymphoma, a low grade B-cell extranodal is the most frequent subset of primary pulmonary lymphoma. Our objective was to evaluate initial extent disease and analyse characteristics long-term outcome these patients. All chest pathological departments teaching hospitals in Paris were contacted order identify patients with histological diagnosis lymphoma MALT subtype. 63 cases identified. The median age 60 yrs. 36% had no symptoms at diagnosis....

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors have revolutionized the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia and are increasingly used for other indications. Fluid retention, however, including pleural effusions, a significant side effect imatinib, first-line leukemia. We investigated pulmonary complications in patients treated with dasatinib, novel multitargeted tyrosine inhibitor, as part clinical trial protocols. Of 40 who received dasatinib (70 mg twice daily) imatinib resistance or intolerance, 9 (22.5%)...

This review is the summary of a workshop on small airways disease, which took place in Porquerolles, France November 2011. Histopathological patterns associated with disease were reviewed, including cellular obliterative bronchiolitis. Many conditions have been airway infections, connective tissue diseases inflammatory bowel...

Chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) can be associated with significant morbidity, in part because of nonreversible fibrosis, which impacts physical functioning (eye, skin, lung manifestations) and mortality (lung, gastrointestinal manifestations). Progress preventing severe morbidity chronic GVHD is limited by a complex incompletely understood biology lack prognostic biomarkers. Likewise, treatment advances for highly morbid manifestations remain hindered the absence effective...
