Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental characterized by heterogeneous cognitive, behavioral and communication impairments. Disruption of the gut-brain axis (GBA) has been implicated in ASD although with limited reproducibility across studies. In this study, we developed Bayesian differential ranking algorithm to identify ASD-associated molecular taxa profiles 10 cross-sectional microbiome datasets 15 other datasets, including dietary patterns, metabolomics, cytokine human...
We report the recommendations for diagnosis, treatment, imaging evaluation and use of antibiotic prophylaxis in children with first febrile urinary tract infection, aged 2 months to 3 years. They were prepared by a working group Italian Society Pediatric Nephrology after careful review available literature consensus decision, when clear evidence was not available. These are endorsed Nephrology. can also be tool comparison other existing guidelines issues which much controversy still exists.
To date, we have little knowledge on the overall metabolic status of neonates with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). In last few years, analysis metabolomics has assumed an important clinical role in identifying "disorders" profile patients. The aim this work been to analyze urine profiles IUGR and compare them controls define patterns associated pathology. our knowledge, is first study performed IUGR. Recruited for were 26 diagnosed neonatal period weight at birth below 10th...
Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate metabolic profile preterm human breast milk (HBM) by using a metabolomic approach. Methods: NMR spectroscopy and GC/MS were used analyze water-soluble lipid fractions extracted from samples obtained mothers giving birth at 26–36 weeks gestation. For sake comparison, formula also studied. Results: multivariate statistical analysis data evidenced biochemical variability both between HBM commercial within group samples. Conclusions:...
Objective: A supervised multivariate model to classify the metabolome alterations between autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) patients and controls, siblings of patients, has been realized used realize a network ASD patients' metabolome. Methods: In our experiment we propose quantification urinary metabolites with Mass Spectroscopy technique couple Gas Chromatography. extrapolate variables importance for interaction metabolites. this way are able network-based approach description.Results:...
Childhood aggression and its resulting consequences inflict a huge burden on affected children, their relatives, teachers, peers society as whole. Aggression during childhood rarely occurs in isolation is correlated with other symptoms of psychopathology. In this paper, we aim to describe improve the understanding co-occurrence forms We focus behavioural emotional problems, including externalising attention problems anxiety–depression. The data were brought together within EU-ACTION...
Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a severe gastrointestinal disease occurring predominantly in premature infants whose etiology still not fully understood. In this study, the analysis of infant fecal samples through shotgun metagenomics approaches revealed marked reduction intestinal (bio)diversity and an overgrowth (opportunistic) pathogens associated with NEC development.
Long COVID-19 syndrome is a complex of symptoms that occurs after the acute SARS-CoV-2 infection, in absence other possible diagnoses. Studies on pediatric population are scanty and heterogeneous design, inclusion criteria, outcomes, follow-up time. The objective present study to assess prevalence cohort Italian primary care patients, observed for period time 8 36 weeks from healing. Prevalence was also assessed patients hospitalized during infection.Data concerning 629 with previous...
The kidney of low birthweight preterm infants is characterized by a reduced number mature nephrons at birth. aim the present study was to determine whether, in preterms, active glomerulogenesis occurs postnatal period and whether it may compensate developed during intrauterine life. Kidney samples were obtained autopsy from 8 human fetuses, 12 premature infants, 3 term newborns. Glomerulogenesis, as measured radial glomerular count (RGC), markedly decreased all compared with A marked...
