Abstract Baccharis dracunculifolia DC. (Asteraceae), popularly known as ‘ alecrim do campo ’, is a native plant from Brazil used in folk medicine febrifuge, anti‐inflammatory, antiseptic, and to treat skin sores. Also, B. the most important source of Brazilian green propolis, which recognized for its antiseptic antiprotozoal activities. This study aimed at investigating vitro antiprotozoal, schistosomicidal, antimicrobial activities essential oil leaves dracunculifolia. The was obtained by...

The in vitro schistosomicidal effects of the essential oil Ageratum conyzoides L. (Ac-EO) against adult worms Schistosoma mansoni is reported this paper. Concerning activity, Ac-EO was considered to be active, but less effective than positive control (praziquantel, PZQ) terms separation coupled pairs, mortality, decrease motor and tegumental alterations. However, caused an interesting dose-dependent reduction number eggs S. mansoni. Precocene I (74.30%) (E)-caryophyllene (14.23%) were...

Inducing apoptosis is an interesting therapeutic approach to develop drugs that act against helminthic parasites. Researchers have investigated how curcumin (CUR), a biologically active compound extracted from rhizomes of Curcuma longa, affects Schistosoma mansoni and several cancer cell lines. This study evaluates CUR influences the induction oxidative stress in couples adult S. worms. decreased viability worms killed them. Trypanosoma brucei is a protozoan parasite that causes Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT), neglected tropical disease (NTD) endemic in 36 countries sub-Saharan Africa. Only handful drugs are available for treatment, and these have limitations, including toxicity drug resistance. Using the natural product, curcumin, as starting point, several curcuminoids related analogs were evaluated against bloodstream forms of T. b. brucei. A particular subset dibenzylideneacetone (DBA) compounds...

Abstract Chagas disease, caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi , affects 6–7 million people worldwide, mainly in South and Central America. A key enzyme disease's progression is trans‐sialidase ( TcTS ), which facilitates parasite invasion transferring sialic acid residues from host glycoconjugates to parasite's surface mucins. Given potential of acid‐based inhibitors block activity, we designed synthesized novel sialylmimetics using quinic shikimic acids. These precursors were chosen...
