We evaluated the impact of continued 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) use in private market (uptake 61%) pediatric invasive disease (pIPD) Portugal (2012-2015). The most frequently detected serotypes were: 3 (n = 32, 13.8%), 14 23, 9.9%), 1 7F 15, 6.4%), 19A 13, 5.6%), 6B and 15B/C (both n 12, 5.2%), 24F, 10A 12B (all with 10, 4.3%). Taken together, non-PCV13 were responsible for 42.2% pIPD a known serotype. PCR to detect serotype pneumococci both pleural cerebrospinal fluid...
To analyse the epidemiology, resistome and virulome of ceftolozane/tazobactam-susceptible or -resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates recovered from surveillance studies in Portugal (STEP, 2017-18) Spain (SUPERIOR, 2016-17).P. were intra-abdominal, urinary tract lower respiratory infections ICU patients admitted to 11 Portuguese 8 Spanish hospitals. MICs determined (ISO-standard broth microdilution, EUCAST 2020 breakpoints). A subset 28 ceftolozane/tazobactam-resistant P. analysed...
ABSTRACT Purpose: to characterize the distribution and mechanisms involved in ceftolozane/tazobactam (C/T) resistance Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates recovered from intensive care units (ICUs) Portugal as part of STEP surveillance study. Materials methods: a total 226 P. were collected patients with low respiratory tract infections (LRTI) admitted ICUs between June 2017 July 2018. Susceptibility antimicrobials including recent C/T combination was determined by EUCAST-criteria. Whole genome...
Background: The discovery of mecC gene in MRSA isolates and its report neighboring Spain France, advices for monitoring presence Portuguese hospitals since changes local epidemiology can occur quickly. implementation rapid procedures based on the automated system VITEK2 allow simple screening with profile susceptibility to oxacillin resistance cefoxitin signaling positive results detailed analysis. Methods: this works aims perform a retrospective study suspect hospital recurring two...
