Background
Transthoracic minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) is increasingly performed as part of curative multimodality treatment. There appears to be no robust evidence on the preferred location anastomosis after transthoracic MIE.
Objective
To compare an intrathoracic with a cervical in randomized clinical trial.
Design, Setting, and Participants
This open, multicenter superiority trial was at 9 Dutch high-volume hospitals. Patients midesophageal distal...

Esophagectomy is the key component of curative esophageal cancer treatment. Textbook outcome a composite measure describing an optimal perioperative course, including variables related to radical resection, at least 15 lymph nodes, and uncomplicated postoperative course without hospital readmission. This study assessed clinicopathologic predictors textbook association with survival in 2 tertiary referral centers. All patients who underwent esophagectomy gastric tube reconstruction intent...

Training learnable metrics using modern language models has recently emerged as a promising method for the automatic evaluation of machine translation. However, existing human datasets text simplification have limited annotations that are based on unitary or outdated models, making them unsuitable this approach. To address these issues, we introduce SimpEval corpus contains: SimpEval_past, comprising 12K ratings 2.4K simplifications 24 past systems, and SimpEval_2022, challenging benchmark...

Superior sulcus tumors (SSTs) are uncommon, and their anatomical location can make treatment challenging. We analyzed late outcomes of patients with SST treated concurrent chemoradiotherapy followed by surgical resection (trimodality) in a single tertiary institution.Patients non-small cell SSTs, who underwent trimodality therapy between 2002 2017, were selected from prospective institutional database. Patients uniformly staged 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography, computed...
