A kinematically complete quasi-free $(p,pn)$ experiment in inverse kinematics was performed to study the structure of Borromean nucleus $^{17}$B, which had long been considered have neutron halo. By analyzing momentum distributions and exclusive cross sections, we obtained spectroscopic factors for $1s_{1/2}$ $0d_{5/2}$ orbitals, a surprisingly small percentage 9(2)$\%$ determined $1s_{1/2}$. Our finding such component halo features reported prior experiments can be explained by deformed...

Abstract Extreme energy-dissipating materials are essential for a range of applications. The military and police force require ballistic armour to ensure the safety their personnel, while aerospace industry requires that enable capture, preservation study hypervelocity projectiles. However, current standards display at least one inherent limitation, such as weight, breathability, stiffness, durability failure preserve captured To resolve these limitations, we have turned nature, using...

The structure and decay of the most neutron-rich beryllium isotope, ^{16}Be, has been investigated following proton knockout from a high-energy ^{17}B beam. Two relatively narrow resonances were observed for first time, with energies 0.84(3) 2.15(5) MeV above two-neutron threshold widths 0.32(8) 0.95(15) MeV, respectively. These assigned to be ground (J^{π}=0^{+}) excited (2^{+}) state, E_{x}=1.31(6) MeV. mass excess ^{16}Be was thus deduced 56.93(13) some 0.5 more bound than only previous...

Abstract Astronauts experience osteoporosis‐like loss of bone mass because microgravity conditions during space flight. To prevent loss, they need a riskless and antiresorptive drug. Melatonin is reported to suppress osteoclast function. However, no studies have examined the effects melatonin on metabolism under conditions. We used goldfish scales as model coexisting osteoclasts osteoblasts demonstrated that mRNA expression level acetylserotonin O‐methyltransferase , an enzyme essential for...

Abstract The Tanpopo experiment is Japan's first astrobiology mission aboard the Japanese Experiment Module Exposed Facility on International Space Station. Tanpopo‐1 exposed silica aerogel panels to low Earth orbit from 2015 2016 capture micrometeoroids. We identified an impact track measuring approximately 8 mm long, which contained terminal grains in panel oriented toward space. exhibited a bulbous cavity with two thin, straight tracks branching it, each preserving grain at their ends....

Emission of muonium (|$\mu ^+e^-$|) atoms from a laser-processed aerogel surface into vacuum was studied for the first time. Laser ablation used to create hole-like regions with diameter about 270 |$\mu $|m in triangular pattern hole separation range 300–500 $|m. The emission probability sample is at least eight times higher than uniform one.

The formation of a dineutron in the nucleus $^{11}$Li is found to be localized surface region. experiment measured intrinsic momentum struck neutron via $(p,pn)$ knockout reaction at 246 MeV/nucleon. correlation angle between two neutrons is, for first time, as function momentum. A comparison with calculations reveals localization $r\sim3.6$ fm. results also support density dependence deduced from Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov nuclear matter.
