Radiation dose received by the neural stem cells of hippocampus during whole-brain radiotherapy has been associated with neurocognitive decline. The key concern using hippocampal avoidance-prophylactic cranial irradiation (HA-PCI) in patients small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is incidence brain metastasis within avoidance zone. This phase III trial enrolled 150 SCLC (71.3% limited disease) to standard prophylactic (PCI; 25 Gy 10 fractions) or HA-PCI. primary objective was delayed free recall...

In the intestine, interaction between epithelial cells and macrophages (MΦs) create a unique immunoregulatory microenvironment necessary to maintain local immune tissue homeostasis. Human intestinal (IECs) have been shown express interleukin (IL)-10, which keeps integrity. We demonstrated that bacterial signaling through Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 induces 15-deoxy-Δ-12,14-prostaglandin J2 (15d-PGJ2) synthesis in MΦs by cyclooxygenase (Cox)-2 expression. Here, we show TLR4...
To characterize the serum cytokine profile in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) at onset and during follow-up assess their utility for predicting relapses disability. This retrospective multicentric cohort study included patients aged 16 years older meeting MOGAD 2023 criteria, with samples collected baseline (≤3 months from onset) (≥6 baseline), age-matched time to sampling-matched multiple sclerosis (MS). Eleven cytokines were assessed using ELLA...
Background Serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) and serum glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP) have emerged as important biomarkers in multiple sclerosis (MS) aquaporin-4 seropositive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4-NMOSD). However, their interest myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) remains unclear. Our aim was to characterise sNfL sGFAP profile analyse usefulness predicting relapses disability MOGAD. Methods Retrospective study of adult...
Background: Although not definitively proven, there is commonly accepted to be a latitudinal gradient in the distribution of multiple sclerosis (MS), which more frequent temperate zones. The European Mediterranean countries are situated zone median frequency, although ever increasing figures have been noted last decades. Objective: objective this study was assess current prevalence rate MS province Malaga, Southern Spain. Methods: capture–recapture method (CRM) uses independent sources data...
This study explores the color preferences of elderly residents nursing homes based on expected activities for different rooms, activity and bedrooms compares results with arousal level induced by each color. Two experiments were conducted, one people living in Valencian Community, other a laboratory virtual reality physiological markers (i.e., heart rate variability). Individuals assessed six colors two groups warm cool. Results demonstrate that cool depend room type. For room, preferred...
We studied the distribution of HLA‐DRB1, ‐DQA1 and ‐DQB1 alleles in 44 Afro‐Brazilian patients with multiple sclerosis 88 controls. Although no significant differences were found between controls for DRB1 DQA1 alleles, HLA‐DQB1*0602 allele was positively associated (45.0% vs. 17.0%, P c =0.024, RR=3.31). The positive extended haplotypes DQB1*0602 more frequent than controls, although not statistically any them. These results Afro‐Brazilians are line other studies which have to be disease...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:
Data on the association between vertebral endplate changes and low back pain are contradictory. This study was designed to assess whether this exists among Southern European subjects.
MATERIALS METHODS:
Patients in serving as cases were 35–50 years of age with lasting >90 days, for whom a lumbar MR imaging had been prescribed. Controls subjects age, having cranial headache normal findings, no history clinically relevant LBP. Two hundred forty 64...
The last consensus statement of the Spanish Society Neurology's Demyelinating Diseases Study Group on treatment multiple sclerosis (MS) was issued in 2016. Although many positions taken remain valid, there have been significant changes management and MS, both due to approval new drugs with different action mechanisms evolution previously fixed concepts. This has enabled approaches specific situations such as pregnancy vaccination, inclusion variables clinical decision-making, early use...
