MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a family of small non-coding RNA molecules about 20–23 nucleotides in length, which negatively regulate protein-coding genes at post-transcriptional level. Using stem-loop real-time-PCR method, we quantified the expression levels 270 human miRNAs 13 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) samples and 9 adjacent normal tissues, identified 35 whose were significantly altered NPC samples. Several known oncogenic miRNAs, including miR-17-92 cluster miR-155, among upregulated NPC....
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that can negatively regulate gene expression and thus control numerous cellular mechanisms. This work develops a resource, miRNAMap 2.0, for collecting experimentally verified microRNAs miRNA target genes in human, mouse, rat other metazoan genomes. Three computational tools, miRanda, RNAhybrid TargetScan, were employed to identify targets 3′-UTR of as well the known targets. Various criteria filtering putative applied reduce false...
To examine the role of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 in pathophysiology vascular diseases, we generated mice deficient both HO-1 and apolipoprotein E (HO-1-/-apoE-/-). Despite similar total plasma cholesterol levels response to hypercholesterolemia, HO-1-/-apoE-/- mice, comparison with HO-1+/+apoE-/- had an accelerated more advanced atherosclerotic lesion formation. In addition greater lipid accumulation, these lesions from contained macrophages smooth muscle alpha-actin-positive cells. We further...
Severe sepsis associated with overproduction of tumor necrosis factor α and reactive oxygen species leads to energy depletion cellular damage. Both damaged organelles induce autophagy for recycling nutrients combat pathological stress. To study whether plays a beneficial role in the pathogenesis renal failure during sepsis, rats were subjected cecal ligation puncture (CLP) or sham operation. Temporal relationship dysfunction examined vivo. The results showed that level lipidated...
Bloodstream infections caused by Candida species are of increasing importance and associated with significant mortality. We performed a multi-centre prospective observational study to identify the antifungal susceptibilities invasive bloodstream isolates in Asia-Pacific region. The was carried out over two year period, involving 13 centers from Brunei, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam. Identification at each center, reconfirmed central laboratory. Susceptibility...
In 2013 a new reassortant avian influenza A H7N9 virus emerged in China, causing human infection with high mortality. An accurate and timely diagnosis is crucial for controlling the outbreaks of disease. We therefore propose simple strategy rapidly sensitively detecting using an intensity-modulated surface plasmon resonance (IM-SPR) biosensor integrated generated monoclonal antibody. The novel antibody exhibits significant specificity to recognize compared other clinical isolates (p < 0.01)....
Abstract Dengue virus (DENV) infection and replication induces oxidative stress, which further contributes to the progression pathogenesis of DENV infection. Modulation host antioxidant molecules may be a useful strategy for interfering with replication. In this study, we showed that induction or exogenous overexpression heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), an enzyme, effectively inhibited in DENV-infected Huh-7 cells. This antiviral effect HO-1 was attenuated by its inhibitor tin protoporphyrin (SnPP),...
Delafloxacin is an intravenous (IV)/oral anionic fluoroquinolone with activity against gram-positive (including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus [MRSA]), gram-negative, atypical, and anaerobic organisms. It approved in the United States for acute bacterial skin structure infections (ABSSSIs) caused by designated susceptible gram-negative organisms, development treatment of community-acquired pneumonia. A multicenter, randomized, double-blind trial 850 adults ABSSSI compared...
Disruption of circadian rhythm is believed to play a critical role in cancer development. To gain further insights into the roles genes chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), we analyzed peripheral blood from 53 healthy individuals and 35 CML patients for expression nine genes. The levels hPER1 , hPER2 hPER3 hCRY1 hCRY2 hBMAL1 were significantly impaired both phase blastic crisis cases compared with those ( P < 0.001). Methylation studies promoter areas these six revealed that only CpG sites...
