Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a systemic chronic inflammatory disease. Andersson lesion (AL) late complication of advanced AS. Idiopathic spinal cord hernia (ISCH) rare disorder the cord. However, according to our literature review, simultaneous occurrence AL together with ISCH in single AS patient had never been reported. A 49-year-old male reported 30-year history thoracolumbar pain and limited mobility was diagnosed dual complications ICSH. Before correction surgery, physical...
This was a retrospective review. The aim of this study to examine the epidemiological characteristics and causes spinal cord compression in thoracic stenosis (TSS).As canal is relatively narrow has poor blood supply, severe neurological symptoms may develop if TSS not treated promptly. However, as it rare, less often studied its clinical features are recognized.Between 2005 2012, 427 patients diagnosed with underwent surgery our department. The male female ratio 1.4:1. mean age 53 years. most...
Retrospective study. To investigate the incidence, risk factors, and outcomes of pedicle screw loosening in degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS) undergoing long-segment spinal fusion surgery. One hundred thirty DLS patients who underwent surgery with at least a 12-month follow-up were studied. The incidence factors investigated. VAS, SRS-22, ODI scores obtained preoperatively follow-up.One sixty-eight 1784 (9.4%) screws showed evidence 71 (54.6%) patients. Three required revision surgery. Screw...
Mini A total of 137 degenerative lumbar scoliosis patients were divided into two groups. In group (six or more fused levels), mean rFCSA erector spinae <0.71 was an independent risk factor LIV screw loosening. Group B (four five paraspinal muscle degeneration had no influence on Study Design. retrospective study. Objective. The aim this study to evaluate the effect muscles, including psoas and multifidus muscles pedicle loosening at lower instrumented vertebra (LIV) following corrective...
Ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF) is a disorder heterotopic ossification spinal ligaments and main cause thoracic canal stenosis. Previous studies suggested that miR-132-3p negatively regulates osteoblast differentiation. However, whether involved in process OLF has not been investigated. In this study, we investigated effect its target genes forkhead box O1 (FOXO1), growth differentiation factor 5 (GDF5) SRY-box 6 (SOX6) on osteogenic (LF) cells. We demonstrated was down-regulated...
<title>Abstract</title> Purpose To assess the prevalence, severity and association of anxiety symptom with pain, disability quality life (QoL) in spinal deformity diseases (SDD) patients, to compared common degenerative (DSD). Methods A total 304 patients scheduled for surgery were included analysis, which 184 diagnosed as various SDD 120 DSD. HRQoL assessment VAS, ODI SF-12v2. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used evaluated symptom. further divided into two subgroups according...
ABSTRACT Objective Degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS) often requires surgical intervention, but traditional posterior‐only approaches, despite their effectiveness, result in significant muscle damage and high complication rates. Minimally invasive techniques like oblique interbody fusion (OLIF) the Wiltse approach are preferred for preserving posterior structures. However, lack of controlled studies comparing combined approaches to methods limits efficacy evaluation. The purpose this study...
Abstract Ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF) is a pathology almost only reported in East Asian countries. The leading cause OLF thoracic spinal canal stenosis and myelopathy. In this study, role miR‐199b‐5p jagged 1 (JAG1) primary cell osteogenesis was examined. MiR‐199b‐5p found to be down‐regulated during osteogenic differentiation cells, while overexpression inhibited differentiation. addition, JAG1 up‐regulated knockdown via RNA interference caused an inhibition Notch signalling...
Objective Degenerative thoracolumbar hyperkyphosis (DTH) is a disease that negatively affects individual health and requires surgical intervention, yet the ideal approach complications, especially distal junctional failures (DJF), remain poorly understood. This study aims to investigate DJF in DTH identify risk factors for so we can improve decision‐making, advance our knowledge field of spinal surgery enhance patient outcomes. Methods retrospectively reviewed 78 cases (late osteoporotic...
Mechanical stress and genetic factors play important roles in the occurrence of thoracic ossification ligament flavum (TOLF), which can occur at one, two, or multiple levels spine. It is unclear whether single- multiple-level TOLF differ terms osteogenic differentiation potency osteogenesis-related gene expression under cyclic mechanical stress. This was addressed present study using patients with non‑TOLF single‑ multiple‑level (n=8 per group). Primary cells were cultured osteogenesis...
Object The object of this study was to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes 36 patients with posttuberculosis kyphosis who underwent one two types osteotomy. Methods Each patient single-stage correction via a posterior surgical approach. A modified pedicle subtraction osteotomy (mPSO) performed when kyphotic deformity less than 70° (7 cases), whereas vertebral column resection (VCR) exceeded (29 cases). Full-length standing radiographs were obtained before surgery at follow-up...
Lumbar disk herniation in adults is thought to be caused by repetitive overloading and age-rated degenerative changes. However, these causes are absent children adolescent patients. We assume that structural malformations the lumbar spine could predispose intervertebral disks early degeneration hence need surgically fused. This issue has never been raised before. To investigate assumption fused.Lumbar configurations, including height of intercrestal line, length L5 transverse processes,...
ABSTRACT This study investigated the pathological process of Notch signaling in osteogenesis ligamentum flavum tissues and cells, associated regulatory mechanisms. receptors, ligands, target genes were identified by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) cells immunohistochemistry sections from ossification (OLF) patients controls. The temporospatial expression patterns JAG1/Notch2/HES1 human during osteogenic differentiation determined qPCR. Lentiviral vectors for Notch2...
In this work we report the characterization of plasmid pCTX-M360, isolated from a Klebsiella pneumoniae strain China and encoding CTX-M-3 extended-spectrum beta-lactamase. Sequence analysis pCTX-M360 revealed extensive similarity with pEL60 pCTX-M3, two other enterobacterial plasmids IncL/M incompatibility group. Compared to pEL60, contains several insertions but lacks most 27-kb insert found in suggesting that it could be an evolutionary intermediate between pCTX-M3.
A clinical retrospective study. To analyze the complications and relevant management of correction procedure for focal kyphosis. The treatment kyphosis is a difficult problem in spine surgery. The potential surgery should be considered cautiously managed positively.Eighty-one patients with were treated by posterior osteotomy correction. etiology was posttraumatic 31 cases, healed tuberculosis congenital 17 iatrogenic 2 cases. surgical procedures pedicle subtraction 19 anterior...
Abstract Background Thoracic spinal stenosis (TSS) is a rare but intractable disease that fails to respond conservative treatment. decompression, which traditionally performed using high-speed drills and Kerrison rongeurs, time-consuming technically challenging task. Unfavorable outcomes high incidence of complications are the major concerns. The development adaptation ultrasonic bone scalpel (UBS) have promoted its application in various operations, standard operating procedure thoracic...
This is a cohort investigation of 2 categories patients with adult lumbar scoliosis. To demonstrate the different surgical strategies between scoliosis based on their symptoms and radiological findings. It has been hypothesized that should be categorized, when possible, into distinct groups basis clinical this categorization can best guide treatment strategy.Between January 2002 December 2004, 43 underwent treatment. Each patient was categorized 1 before surgery. Group had primary related to...
