The wide use of percutaneous mitral commissurotomy (PMC) underlines the need to identify predictive factors results. Using a large series allowed us develop multivariate model that can be applied improve patient selection.Between 1986 and 1995. PMC was undertaken in 1514 patients. Mean age 45 +/- 15 years. Echocardiography showed 245 patients (16%) had pliable valves mild chordal thickening (group 1), 886 (59%) extensive subvalvular disease 2), 383 (25%) calcified 3). failed 22 patients; it...

Importance In patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD) presenting ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), complete revascularization reduces major cardiovascular events compared culprit lesion–only percutaneous intervention (PCI). Whether also improves angina-related health status is unknown. Objective To determine whether angina in STEMI and CAD. Design, Setting, Participants This secondary analysis of a randomized, multinational, open label trial patient-reported...

Background: In patients with ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction and multivessel disease, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for nonculprit lesions guided by fractional flow reserve (FFR) is superior to treatment of the culprit lesion alone. Whether deferring PCI safe in this specific context questionable. We aimed assess clinical outcomes at 1 year artery disease an FFR-guided strategy lesions, according whether or not ≥1 was performed. Methods: Outcomes were analyzed...

The incidence of pulmonary embolism (PE) is high during severe Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). We aimed to identify predictive and prognostic factors PE in non-ICU hospitalized COVID-19 patients. In the retrospective multicenter observational CLOTVID cohort, we enrolled patients with confirmed RT-PCR who were a medicine ward also underwent CT angiography for suspicion. Baseline data, laboratory biomarkers, treatments, outcomes collected. Predictive prognostics identified by using...

Abstract Background A high prevalence of pulmonary embolism (PE) has been described during COVID‐19. Our aim was to identify predictive factors PE in non‐ICU hospitalized COVID‐19 patients. Methods Data and outcomes were collected upon admission a French multicenter retrospective study, including patients for COVID‐19, with CT angiography (CTPA) performed the emergency department suspected PE. Predictive significantly associated identified through multivariate regression model. Results total...

Background It is unclear whether HIV infection affects the long-term prognosis after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The objective of current study was to compare rates major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events a first ACS between people living with (PLHIV) HIV-uninfected (HIV-) patients, identify determinants cardiovascular prognosis. Methods Results Consecutive PLHIV matched HIV- patients episode were enrolled in 23 intensive care units France. Patients for age, sex, type. primary...

Background Atypical clinical presentation in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients is not uncommon; most studies suggest that it associated with unfavorable prognosis. Hypothesis Long‐term impact differs according to predominant symptom (typical chest pain, atypical syncope, cardiac arrest, or dyspnea) AMI patients. Methods FAST‐MI 2010, a nationwide French registry, included 4169 213 centers at the end of 2010 (76% active centers). Demographics, medical history, hospital management,...

Immediate and mid-term results of percutaneous mitral commissurotomy (PMC) were assessed in 75 patients aged > or = 70 years (mean +/- 4 (70 to 86)). Co-morbidities present 30 (40%), 58 had calcified valves (77%). Technical failure occurred two patients. PMC was performed 73 patients, using a single balloon five, balloons 28, the Inoue 42. After PMC, valve area increased from 1.0 0.2 1.6 0.3 cm2 as by 2D echo (P<0.001). Three procedural deaths (4%). Good initial (valve 1.5 with regurgitation...

Percutaneous mitral commissurotomy (PMC) was successfully performed in a 48-year-old woman with dextrocardia and situs inversus severe stenosis. After PMC, the valve area increased from 0.97 to 1.89 cm2, no complication occurred. This case shows that PMC is practicable of inversus. The procedure appears be safer easier when carried out Inoue balloon, image inversion on screen, under transesophageal echocardiographic monitoring. © 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
