Abstract Background and Aims Acute heart failure (AHF) promotes inflammatory activation, which is associated with worse outcomes. Colchicine has proven effective in other cardiovascular conditions characterized by but never been evaluated the setting of AHF. Methods This multicenter, randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial included patients AHF, requiring ≥40 mg intravenous furosemide, regardless their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) inpatient or outpatient setting....

We report that Aplidin, a novel antitumor agent of marine origin presently undergoing Phase II clinical trials, induced growth arrest and apoptosis in human MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells at nanomolar concentrations. Aplidin specific cellular stress response program, including sustained activation the epidermal factor receptor (EGFR), non-receptor protein-tyrosine kinase Src, serine/threonine kinases JNK p38 MAPK. Aplidin-induced was only partially blocked by general caspase inhibitor...

This study investigated the biotechnological potential of strains isolated environmental samples collected in protected areas mines Honduras, focusing on their application producing biofertilizers bioremediation. 63 were from: soil, covers, mine waters, hot springs. From these, 118 bacterial characterized using microbiological molecular techniques. The genera Pseudomonas,...

Carbapenems are considered the last-resort antibiotics to treat infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli. The Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) enzyme hydrolyses β-lactam including carbapenems. KPC has been detected worldwide in Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates associated with transposon Tn4401 commonly located plasmids. Acinetobacter baumannii become an important nosocomial pathogen. KPC-producing A. reported date only Puerto Rico....

Virus-host coevolution often drive changes both host immunity the viral genome. We consider one immune mechanism, activation-induced deaminase (AID)/APOBEC family of cytidine deaminases, that induces mutations DNA. The relationship between the use of tobacco products and SARS-CoV-2 infection is poorly understood controversial. Few studies have examined effect electronic cigarettes (ECs) on infection. We tested hypothesis that EC fluids aerosols with nicotine promote SARS-COV-2 by increasing viral entry into human respiratory epithelial cells. Responses BEAS-2B cells to JUUL or their individual constituents were compared using three exposure platforms: submerged culture, air-liquid-interface (ALI) in a...

Riesz transforms $R_\mu$ related to the Bessel operators$$ \Delta_\mu=x^{-\mu-1/2}Dx^{2\mu+1}Dx^{-\mu-1/2} $$are studied in this work. We develop for a theory that runs parallel Euclidean Hilbert transform. It is proved actually Calderón–Zygmund singular integral operator. Also, seen be boundary value of appropriate harmonic extension context. Finally, we analyse weighted inequalities involving $R_\mu$.

In this paper we investigate Riesz transforms Rμ(k) of order k≥1 related to the Bessel operator Δμf(x)=-f”(x)-((2μ+1)/x)f’(x) and extend results Muckenhoupt Stein for conjugate Hankel transform (a one). We obtain that every k≥1, is a principal value strong type (p, p), p∈(1,∞), weak (1,1) with respect measure dλ(x)=x2μ+1 dx in (0,∞). also characterize class weights ω on (0,∞) which maps Lp(ω) into itself L1(ω) L1,∞(ω) boundedly.
