Legionella pneumophila, a bacterium that replicates within aquatic amoebae and persists in the environment as free-living microbe, is causative agent of Legionnaires' disease. Among many species described, L. pneumophila associated with 90% human disease, 15 serogroups (Sg), Sg1 causes more than 84% disease worldwide. Thus, rapid specific identification utmost importance for evaluation contamination collective water systems risk posed. Previously we had shown about 20 kb 33-kb locus carrying...
ABSTRACT Arbitrarily primed PCR with three primers and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis were used to characterize a set of 75 clinical Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 isolates, no apparent epidemiological link, obtained from 24 hospitals in Paris, France, 1987 1997. Unexpectedly, 25 isolates 15 had an identical profile (termed type A) by both methods. The same was subsequently found 16 64 randomly selected environmental L. different sites the Paris area. There evidence geographic...
Abstract Objectives The objective of this study was to perform a multinational survey patients' colonization by metallo-β-lactamase (MBL)-producing Enterobacteriaceae, including their molecular characterization. Methods Patients in 18 hospital units across Europe and Israel (n = 17 945) were screened between mid-2008 mid-2011. MBL-producing isolates typed PFGE MLST. MBL genes amplified sequenced within integrons. Plasmids with analysed nuclease S1 plus hybridization profiling, mating...
Background. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) nasal colonization is a well-established risk factor for subsequent infection and key event in interindividual transmission. Some studies have showed an association between fluoroquinolones MRSA or infection. The present study was performed to identify specific factors acquisition long-term care facilities (LTCFs). Methods. A prospective cohort of patients naive S. established followed (January 2008 through October 2010) 4 French...

Abstract
High-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is frequently performed in patients with hematologic malignancies. ASCT can result significant nausea, pain, and discomfort. Supportive care has improved, pharmacologic therapies are used, but limitations. Music been demonstrated to improve nausea pain undergoing chemotherapy, little data available regarding the effects of music therapy setting. In a prospective study, lymphoma or multiple...
Abstract: Despite advances in identifying genetic markers of high risk patients and the availability testing, it remains challenging to efficiently identify women who are at hereditary manage their care appropriately. HughesRiskApps, an open-source family history collection, assessment, Clinical Decision Support (CDS) software package, was developed address shortcomings our ability treat population. This system is designed for use primary clinics, breast centers, cancer clinics collect...

The enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathway is a protocol aimed at optimizing patient care by reducing the physiological alterations caused surgery, thus time, surgical morbidities and length of stay. This study assessed impact ERAS on patients undergoing microsurgical breast reconstruction.Patients reconstruction over an eight-month period were retrospectively examined. LOS, complication rates perioperative outcomes analysed. Results compared between admitted traditional (TRAS)...
We evaluated the effect of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) on clearance carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) carriage.
Band 3 is the major anion transport polypeptide of erythrocytes. It appears to be binding site several glycolytic enzymes. Structurally, band protein spanning erythrocyte membrane and connects plasma 2.1, which binds cytoskeleton. In present study, we report an alteration molecule that associated with following changes: shape change from discoid "thorny cells" (acanthocytes), restriction rotational diffusion in membrane, increase transport, decrease number high-affinity ankyrin-binding...
The in vitro activities of caspofungin and micafungin against 1,038 yeast isolates have been determined. MICs were lower for Candida albicans, glabrata, tropicalis than parapsilosis, guilliermondii, krusei. A clear correlation was seen between the two drugs.
IntroductionUnderstanding how hospital staff members (HSMs), including healthcare workers, acquired severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) during the first wave can guide control measures in current second Europe.MethodsFrom March 5 to May 10, 2020, Raymond-Poincaré Hospital held a weekday consultation for HSMs PCR testing. were requested complete questionnaire on their potential exposure SARS-CoV-2.ResultsOf 200 screened, 70 tested positive SARS-CoV-2. Ninety-nine...
ABSTRACT We compared two walk-away molecular diagnostic assays, the GeneXpert MRSA Gen 3 assay and BD-Max XT assay. A total of 119 prospective swabs 36 culture-positive samples were tested. Xpert had sensitivity 95.7% specificity 100% versus 87.5% 97.1% for BD-Max. The difference in agreement with enriched culture results was significantly favor ( P < 0.02, McNemar nonparametric text).
Abstract Introduction Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) with or without azithromycin is currently still debated as a potential treatment for the COVID-19 epidemic. Some studies showed discrepant results. However, timing initiation and its setting (in-hospital out-patient) are not consistent across studies. Methods Monocentric retrospective study conducted from 2th March to 17th April 2020, in adults hospitalized tertiary hospital COVID-19. Patients characteristics were compared between groups...
Most studies of solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients with COVID-19 focus on outcomes within one month illness onset. Delayed mortality in SOT hospitalized for has not been fully examined.
ABSTRACT Peptidoglycan (PG), a component of the bacterial cell wall, has various immunomodulating activities, including capacity to induce delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions antigens administered in Freund’s adjuvant. We report that PG induces interleukin-12 (IL-12) mRNA production and IL-12 secretion by mouse macrophages. The production, like its previously reported was dependent on structure peptide subunit. from Bacillus megaterium Staphylococcus aureus induced whereas Micrococcus...
Infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) are emerging worldwide. Physicians increasingly faced with the question of whether patients need empiric antibiotic treatment covering these pathogens. This is especially essential among MDRO carriers. We aim to determine occurrence bacteraemia bacteraemic colonized MDRO, and associated factors this population. We performed a retrospective monocentric study carriers hospitalized between January 2013 August 2016 in French hospital....
