Observational studies have reported different effects of adiposity on cardiovascular risk factors across age and sex. Since are enriched in obese individuals, it has not been easy to dissect the from those other factors. We used a Mendelian randomization approach, applying set 32 genetic markers estimate causal effect blood pressure, glycemic indices, circulating lipid levels, inflammation liver disease up 67,553 individuals. All analyses were stratified by (cutoff 55 years age) The score...

Abstract Aims Recent trials provide conflicting results on the association between glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) and diabetic retinopathy (DR). The aim of AngioSafe type 2 diabetes (T2D) study was to determine role GLP-1RA in angiogenesis using clinical preclinical models. Methods We performed two studies humans. In 1, we investigated effect exposure from T2D diagnosis severity DR, as diagnosed with retinal imaging (fundus photography). 2, a randomized 4-week trial,...

<b><i><i>Objective:</i></i></b> To determine whether the effects of <i>APOE</i> promoter polymorphisms on AD are independent <i>APOE</i>-ε4 allele. <b><i><i>Background:</i></i></b> Recently, −491 A→T and −219 G→T located in have been suggested to be risk factors for AD. However, these not always reproduced case-control studies, possibly because strong linkage disequilibrium existing at this locus or characteristics populations studied. <b><i><i>Methods:</i></i></b> Data collection was...

Long-chain acyl CoA synthetase 1 (ACSL1) plays an important role in fatty acid metabolism and triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis. Disturbance of these pathways may result dyslipidemia insulin resistance, hallmarks the metabolic syndrome (MetS). Dietary fat is a key environmental factor that interact with genetic determinants lipid to affect MetS risk. We investigated relationship between ACSL1 polymorphisms (rs4862417, rs6552828, rs13120078, rs9997745, rs12503643) risk determined potential...

Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism referred as venous thromboembolism (VTE) are a common cause of morbidity mortality. Plasma from healthy controls or individuals who have experienced VTE were analyzed using metabolomics to characterize biomarkers metabolic systems patients with VTE. Approach Results: Polar metabolite lipidomic profiles plasma collected 3 months after an incident obtained liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. Fasting-state samples 42 measured. metabolomic...

Although the ε4 allele of apolipoprotein E gene appears as an important biological marker for Alzheimer's disease (AD) susceptibility, other genetic determinants are clearly implicated in AD process. Here, we propose that a variation transcriptional factor LBP-1c/CP2/LSF gene, located close to LRP locus, is susceptibility AD. We report association between non-coding polymorphism (G→A) 3′-untranslated region this and sporadic French British populations similar trend North American population....

We genotyped five polymorphisms, including two polymorphisms with known effects on transcriptional activity, in a large cohort of 427 Alzheimer disease (AD) cases and 472 control subjects. An association between rs463946 (-3102 G/C) AD was found confirmed replication sample similar size. By contrast, analysis three recently described rare mutations influencing APP transcription did not confirm their risk.

The transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) gene is the most significant genetic risk for type diabetes (T2D). Association analyses were performed on participants (n = 751, aged between 30 and 64) in ISOR population-based study city of Oran. Abstract Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common, multi-causal disease with potentially serious short- and long-term complications. In clinical practice, there need for improved plasma biomarker-based tools VTE diagnosis risk prediction. Here we show, using proteomics profiling to screen from patients suspected acute VTE, several case-control studies how Complement Factor H Related 5 protein (CFHR5), regulator of the alternative pathway complement activation, VTE-associated biomarker....
