The crystalline formation of biofilms by Proteus blocks the urine flow which often complicates health care catheterized patients. Bacteriophages has been highlighted as a promising tool to control biofilm-mediated bacterial infections. Here, we isolated and characterized two newly lytic phages capable infecting clinical isolates P. mirabilis vulgaris. Moreover, insights regarding biological molecular characterization were analysed. Both RP6 RP7 showed Proteus-genus-specific profile,...

We aimed to explore factors for optimizing antimicrobial treatment in emergency departments. A single-day point prevalence survey was conducted on January 18, 2020, 53 referral/tertiary hospitals 22 countries. 1957 (17%) of 11557 patients presenting EDs had infections. The mean qSOFA score 0.37 ± 0.74. Sepsis (qSOFA ≥ 2) recorded 218 (11.1%) patients. significantly higher low-middle (1.48 0.963) compared upper-middle (0.17 0.482) and high-income (0.36 0.714) countries (P < 0.001). Eight...

Sporadic Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) cases were first reported in Turkey 2002, arising particularly northeastern Anatolia. Epidemics have been neighboring countries since the 1970s. With increase number of CCHF virus infected or suspected Aydin region western Anatolia by 2006, we decided to focus attention on this disease.Twenty-six patients with an acute febrile syndrome characterized malaise, bleeding, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia admitted various hospitals between May 2007...

Mucormycosis (or zygomycosis) is the term for infection caused by fungi of order Mucorales. Mucoraceae may produce severe disease in susceptible individuals, notably patients with diabetes and leukemia. Rhinocerebral mucormycosis most commonly manifests itself setting poorly controlled diabetes, especially ketoacidosis. A 31-year-old diabetic man presented to outpatient clinic following signs symptoms: headache, periorbital pain, swelling loss vision right eye. On physical examination his...

We undertook a prospective study of all new central venous catheters inserted into patients in the intensive care units, order to identify risk factors and determine effect glycopeptide antibiotics on catheter – related infections. During period 300 with were prospectively studied. The used nontunneled, noncuffed, triple lumen made polyurethane material. Catheters cultured by semiquantitative method blood cultures done when indicated. Data obtained patient age, gender, unit, primary...

Background: Streptococcus pneumoniae is a leading pathogen causing pneumonia, meningitis, otitis media, bacteremia and sinusitis resulting in significant morbidity mortality. We examined vitro activities of five quinolones comparison with other antibiotics against 85 invasive pneumococcal isolates. Methods: Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) penicillin G, cefuroxime, azithromycin, clarithromycin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole...

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most important nosocomial pathogens and also emerging in Turkish hospitals. The aim this study was to determine antimicrobial susceptibility profiles MRSA isolated from hospitals.A total 397 strains 12 hospitals Turkey were included present study. Antimicrobial susceptibilities tested using agar dilution method. Presence ermA, ermB, ermC, msrA, tetM, tetK, linA aac-aph genes studied by PCR.All susceptible vancomycin linezolid....
