The construction of Pohang Accelerator Laboratory X-ray Free-Electron Laser (PAL-XFEL), a 0.1-nm hard free-electron laser (FEL) facility based on 10-GeV S-band linear accelerator (LINAC), is achieved in Pohang, Korea by the end 2016. 1.11 km-long building was completed 2014, and installation LINAC undulators started January 2015. LINAC, together with beamlines, commissioning began April 2016, first lasing FEL line 14 June progress PAL-XFEL its commission are reported here.
Numerous studies have previously evaluated the marginal and internal fit of fixed prostheses; however, few reports performed an objective comparison various methods used for their assessment. The purpose this study was to compare five assessment prostheses. A specially designed sample measure prosthesis according cross-sectional method (CSM), silicone replica technique (SRT), triple scan (TSM), micro-computed tomography (MCT), optical coherence (OCT). showed significant differences in four...
Thermosensitive liposomes are attractive vehicles for the delivery and release of drugs to tumors. To improvethe targeting efficacy breast cancer treatment, an 8.3-kDa HER2-specific Affibody molecule (ZHER2:342-Cys) was conjugated surface liposomes. The effects this modification on physical characteristics stability resulting nanoparticles denoted as "Affisomes" were investigated. small unilamellar vesicle (SUV) (80–100 nm) a diameter consisting dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC, Tm...
Smart farming solutions combine information, data software tools, and technology with the intent to improve agricultural production. While smart concepts are well described in literature, potential societal impacts of less conspicuous. To demonstrate how could influence future production, agri-business rural communities their constituents, this article compares approaches reasons behind pursuit by U.S. South Korea. The assets productivity among two countries as technical challenges impacting...
Fabrication of a transparent and flexible supercapacitor requires electrode materials that are optically mechanically flexible. Although chemical vapor deposition (CVD)-grown graphene is promising material, its use in applications greatly limited by the low area-specific capacitance fabricated supercapacitor. Here, we demonstrate high-performance using stacked bilayer an ultrathin redox-active interlayer. By inserting layer between graphene, achieved almost 20-fold enhancement (from 5.6...
The use of optical metrology techniques in process control for microelectronic manufacturing has become widespread. These are fast and non-destructive, allowing a higher sampling rate than non-optical methods like scanning electron or atomic force microscopy. One drawback most tools is the requirement that special measurement structures be fabricated scribe line between chips. This poses significant limitations regarding characterization lithography processes may overcome via in-chip...
Corneal transplantation by full-thickness penetrating keratoplasty with human donor tissue is a widely accepted treatment for damaged or diseased corneas. Although corneal has high success rate, shortage of high-quality considerable limitation. Therefore, bioengineered corneas could be an effective solution this limitation, and decellularized extracellular matrix comprises promising scaffold their fabrication. In study, three-dimensional bioprinted collagen sheets were implanted into the...
Although graphene has considerable potential as a next-generation transparent conducting electrode (TCE) material owing to its excellent optical transparency and flexibility, electrical properties require further improvement for industrial application. This study reports pathway of doping by selective atomic layer deposition (ALD) metals elevate the conductivity graphene. Introduction novel Pt precursor [dimethyl(N,N-dimethyl-3-butene-1-amine-N)platinum(II); C8H19NPt; DDAP] facilitates...
A putative seven transmembrane protein gene, stm1(+), which is required for proper recognition of nitrogen starvation signals, was isolated as a multicopy suppressor ras1 synthetic lethal mutant in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Under nitrogen-deficient conditions, transcription the stm1 gene induced; deletion associated with early entry into G(1) arrest. nutritionally sufficient overexpression Stm1 inhibited vegetative cell growth, resulted decreased intracellular cAMP levels, increased...
Abstract Polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) composed of chitosan and hyaluronic acid (HA) were prepared in various pH regions at different weight ratios. At low pHs, there was a strong ionic interaction between NH groups both COO − COOH HA due to the deprotonation HA, whereas weak linkages formed high pHs because only carboxyl could interact with chitosan. The formation PECs resulted decrease crystallinity thermal stability caused by interactions polyions. With variations degree ionization...
Natural products have recently become the focus of increased research interest due to their potential pharmacological activities. Therefore, we established a program screen natural for cytotoxic activity using MTT reduction assay system test HT-29 human colon cancer cells. During course screening, found that acetone extracts guava (Psidium guajava L.) branch (GBA) had effects on The GBA showed highly via assay, LDH release and colony formation assay. In particular, 250 mg/ml 35.5% inhibition...
Background and PurposezzAlzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with structural alterations in the medial temporal lobe (MTL) functional posterior cortical region, especially early stages. However, it unclear what mechanisms underlie these regional discrepancies or whether hypometabolism reflects disconnection from MTL lesion result of local pathology. The precuneus, an area posteromedial cortex that involved stages AD, has recently received a great deal attention neuroimaging studies. To assess...
Both interlayer-undoped and interlayer-doped multilayer graphenes were prepared by the multiple transfers of graphene layers with Cu etching (either dopant-free or doped during etching) transfer, effect interface properties on electrical was investigated varying number from 1 to 12. In both cases, sheet resistance decreased increasing 700 104 Ω/sq for 280 25 graphene. Further, Hall measurements revealed that origins reduction in two cases are different. graphene, because increase mobility...
A reliable method for preparing a conformal amorphous carbon (a-C) layer with thickness of 1-nm-level, is tested as possible Cu diffusion barrier next-generation ultrahigh-density semiconductor device miniaturization. polystyrene brush uniform grafted onto 4-inch SiO2 /Si wafer substrates "self-limiting" chemistry favoring such layer. UV crosslinking and subsequent carbonization transforms this polymer film into an ultrathin a-C without pinholes or hillocks. The coating nonplanar regions...
Abstract Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) has been attracting interest as a new radiation modality for cancer because it can selectively destroy cells while maintaining the healthy state of surrounding normal cells. Many experimental trials have demonstrated significant BNCT treatment efficacy using beams from research reactors. However, nuclear reactor technology cannot be scaled to sites in hospitals delivering patient treatment. Therefore, compact accelerator-based sources that could...
