We have measured ultrafast charge carrier dynamics in monolayers and trilayers of the transition metal dichalcogenides MoS2 WSe2 using a combination time-resolved photoluminescence terahertz spectroscopy. recorded photoconductivity response time just 350 fs from CVD-grown monolayer MoS2, 1 ps trilayer WSe2. Our results indicate potential these materials as high-speed optoelectronic materials.
Abstract: We have previously shown that exogenous melatonin improves the preservation of blood–brain barrier (BBB) and neurovascular unit following cerebral ischemia–reperfusion. Recent evidence indicates postischemic microglial activation exaggerates damage to BBB. Herein, we explored whether mitigates cellular inflammatory response after transient focal ischemia for 90 min in rats. Melatonin (5 mg/kg) or vehicle was given intravenously at reperfusion onset. Immunohistochemistry flow...

Abstract
Background/Aim: The combination of bevacizumab and atezolizumab (Bev-Ate) has been established as a standard first-line systemic treatment option for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) since 2020. This study examined the outcomes HCC patients who received in southern Taiwan. Patients Methods: All were enrolled from four hospitals They Bev-Ate therapy HCC. Results: Thirty-five included; 28 (80%) had Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C disease. Hepatitis etiology...
Abstract: We have previously shown that melatonin reduces infarct volumes and enhances neurobehavioral electrophysiological recoveries following transient middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion in rats. In the study, we examined whether would display neuroprotection against neuronal, axonal oligodendrocyte pathology after 24 hr of reperfusion 1 MCA mice. Melatonin (5 mg/kg) or vehicle was given intraperitoneally at commencement reperfusion. Neurological deficits were assessed ischemia. Gray...
Although hepatitis C virus (HCV) affects approximately 130-170 million people worldwide, no vaccines are available. HCV is an important cause of chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, leading to the need for liver transplantation. In this study, curcumin, a constituent used in traditional Chinese medicine, has been evaluated its anti-HCV activity mechanism, using human hepatoma cell line containing genotype 1b subgenomic replicon. Below concentration 20% cytotoxicity,...
The Taiwan Cancer Registry (TCR) is a nationwide population-based registry that collects the data of patients with newly diagnosed cancer from hospitals ≥50 beds. TCR are high quality in terms completeness and timeliness. However, accuracy also crucial indicator. This study evaluated rates selected 55 major items long-form between 2014 2016 700 reported cases randomly 25 long-form-reporting hospitals. We calculated by employing reabstracted chart review. Among items, 38 (69%) were at least...
Melatonin protects against transient middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion and may be suited as an add-on therapy of tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) thrombolysis. Herein, we examined whether melatonin would reduce postischemic increase in the blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability and, therefore, attenuate risk hemorrhagic transformation after t-PA experimental stroke. Twelve mice were subjected to MCA for 1 hr, followed by 24 hr reperfusion. (5 mg/kg, i.p.) or vehicle was given at...
Abstract: We have previously shown that melatonin reduces postischemic rises in the blood–brain barrier (BBB) permeability and improves neurovascular dysfunction hemorrhagic transformation following ischemic stroke. It is known activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) plays a crucial role pathogenesis brain edema after We, herein, investigated whether would ameliorate MMP‐2 MMP‐9 expression rat model transient focal cerebral ischemia. Adult male Sprague–Dawley rats were subjected to...
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) can cause infection and critical diseases in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients. This study aimed to explore the cumulative incidence risk factors for CMV disease among HSCT recipients Taiwan.
Abstract Several life‐prolonging therapies for metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) are available, including radium‐223 dichloride ( 223 Ra), which was approved based on phase 3 data demonstrating improved overall survival (OS) and a favorable safety profile. To date, real‐world evidence Ra use in Taiwan is from three studies of <50 patients. This observational study (NCT04232761) enrolled male patients with histologically/cytologically confirmed mCRPC bone metastases...
Abstract: Melatonin has been reported to reduce infarct volumes induced by transient middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion. We examined whether melatonin could improve electrophysiological and neurobehavioral recoveries in rats after 72 hr of reperfusion following 1.5 MCA (5 mg/kg) or vehicle was given intravenously at the commencement reperfusion. Neurobehavioral outcome serially examined, somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP) were recorded prior ischemia onset Brain infarction assessed...
Abstract: Melatonin (5–15 mg/kg) protects male animals against ischemic stroke. We explored the potential interactions and synergistic neuroprotection of melatonin estrogen using a panel lipid peroxidation radical-scavenging assays, primary neuronal cultures subjected to oxygen–glucose deprivation (OGD), lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Neuroprotective efficacy was also evaluated in both reproductively active ovariectomized female rats transient focal cerebral ischemia....
Background: Early palliative care (EPC) benefits some cancers, but its clinical outcomes differ depending on patients’ racial and ethnic disparities, customs. To determine whether EPC improves symptoms, emotional distress, quality of life among Taiwanese patients with early or advanced-stage head neck cancer (HNC). Methods: Based participants’ pathological stages, they were categorized as having HNC. Those willing unwilling to undergo assigned the standard groups, respectively. Their daily...
Abstract Aim To evaluate the prevalence of pain in cancer outpatients Taiwan and to investigate impact on quality life (QoL) patient satisfaction. Results were compared those a similarly designed study conducted 2008 identify trends. Methods Adult patients with treated as hospitals throughout recruited. Pain intensity extent which interfered QoL self‐reported using modified version Brief Inventory. Patients also indicated their level satisfaction physician, well control. A total 2652...
The authors examined whether delayed treatment with Mg++ would reduce brain infarction and improve electrophysiological neurobehavioral recovery following cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.Male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to right middle artery occlusion for 90 minutes followed by 72 hours of reperfusion. Magnesium sulfate (750 micromol/kg) or vehicle was given via intracarotid infusion at the beginning Neurobehavioral outcome somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) before after...
A 67-year-old woman presented with a history of dilated cardiomyopathy congestive heart failure since 2003, who subsequently developed lower rectal cancer (adenocarcinoma) liver, bone, and lymph node metastasis. Abdominoperineal resection hepatectomy were performed. The patient received two rounds intravenous chemotherapy, including 12 six courses FOLFOX4 (5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, oxaliplatin; 85 mg/m2 per cycle). She underwent third round because tumor progression. During the 21st course...
We externally validated Fujimoto's post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) scoring system for risk prediction by using the Taiwan Blood and Marrow Transplant Registry Database (TBMTRD) aimed to create a superior machine learning methods. Consecutive allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) recipients registered in TBMTRD from 2009 2018 were included this study. The Fujimoto PTLD score was calculated each patient. algorithm, least absolute shrinkage selection operator...
